Don't sell WA short as protectors. Just because they don't choose evil over good doesn't mean they won't wipe the floor with an attacker.

I would say that it depends on the spirit. I unknowingly had a dark arts spirit look after me, especially when I was a kid. At the time I did not know about spirits & magick, and his sudden appearance did startle me as a kid since I could see him at times but I had no explanation for it. However I never came to harm.
I guess that I had better define Magick. One definition is:
