I don't have much experience with immortals, but can gods be thought into existence? In the instance of Chinese god Nezha (if you haven't watched the cartoon- GO AND WATCH IT!!!! I fell in love with him, as most Chinese kids did but he was and still is my childhood hero), he technically was not in history at all, but regarded as a folk tale passed through generations. Does that make sense? I mean with other entities such as buddhas and other gods, they've actually been incorporated into China's history. Like the Journey to the West which is an exaggerated version of the real event.
