I basically agree with you, but I would ad that I have noticed that many times when people want something, they would rather continue to want "that something" than to actually achieve it, get it, own it, whatver...becaus now there is the responsibility of ownership, the limits of ownership, and the new relationship of ownship influencing the rest of the pre-fullfilment paradigm, and transforming it into a new paradigm, and that requires even more responsibility. I take the view of the great Pat Benatar "Hit me with your best shot"...
