On a second note however do you need to do any visualizing for this or cleansing of the materials used???

IMO (for what it's worth) it is a good idea to cleans any materials used in any spell or ritual, just to remove any energies attached from e.g. the persons who made or sold the items & to make them properly 'yours'. Visualising some sort of protective shield would certainly not hurt. Whether that's essential I don't know. Hopefully not - my vis. skills will never amount to much, I fear!

I personally like to repeat these kind of rituals monthly for the first 6 months. Okay, this may seem a little fanatical to some, but like anything that is done on a regular basis, it leaves an energy footprint in the space it is performed in again and again. In this way, the energy grows very intense and the holding effect can literally last for years when done this way.

I have done the same repetitive technique with casting magickal circles in the same area over a period of time. I find the circle exists there to use anytime, and is almost instantaneous to bring up. Program a wand or athame, and all the banishing pentagrams are in place and blazing brightly, with a simple act of raising the programmed tool.

This ritual is going into my BOS as well, and indeed, I will commit it to heart. As all rituals should be to get the highest and best use from them.
