Quick Question:

Is it imperative that the black candle be BLACK. For instance; could it be dark red? I'm having trouble locating a black candle locally. If necessary, I'll order one off the internet, but I'd rather not pay five dollars in shipping on two dollars worth of candle and miss my window of opportunity in the process.

Whaddya think?

I've heard of people successfully weaseling around candle colors by using a white candle and tying a ribbon of color choice around it, but this is second hand, not first hand experience. I imagine Ash would know for certain.

Question for Ash, would the stone Jet be a viable choice for this spell? (I'm not currently using it, but am curious.) Thanks!

I managed to locate one; Yankee makes a Midsummer's Night candle you can buy as a votive for a couple of bucks, its black and smells terrible

I started the ritual last night and definitely noticed the effects. I plan on following Alex's example of conducting this ritual for six consecutive months.

I haven't started this yet, I have a tendency to procrastinate, but was wondering, when the ritual is done, do we discard the gemstones or are they charged with the protection spell? If I use chime candles can I let them just burn out entirely during the closing ritual , or should I blow them out and then bury them? And the herbs, should I just discard in the wind? I know these may sound like stupid questions, but I don't want to mess up, I don't have any real experience in this area, but feel this will greatly improve the energy around me.

to Ash I also wanted to say I feel like I have finally found a home with people to share things that I might not otherwise tell other people in my everyday life. Although my entire family knows what I do and what I practice. lol
