Does anyone have knowledge of the Magickal Properties of Wood? I have done research via the internet search engines and some information matches and some differ. If anyone has any information on this, could you please post it; as I believe it would be very educational and beneficial to all.
Thank you!

Great list Bella. I can only add a few thoughts to your extensive list.
Yew - Use the wood from a churchyard yew, otherwise it can be malovent. It is a gateway tree, used for ancestoral
communication. Yews are some of the oldest living trees on the planet. A new tree can grow up inside the hollow
of a dead tree.
Rowan - AKA Mountain Ash, a popular tree for planting in northern yards, and sacred to the Celts.
Pear - is even a better wood for love than apple or rose wood.
Lilac - is an interesting wood, it attracts fae of all sorts, opens the psychic channels, and is used for breaking hexes.
Linden - attracts dragons, is used for making shields, links the underworld to the physical world. It was used in Germanic witchcraft.
Black Poplar - Facilitates shamanistic and astral travel. If you are familiar with the works of Gillot de Givry and High or Ritual Magic you
may recall his use of black poplar wands...half with the bark on and half stripped. This tree was kept in the garden of Hecate. It's buds
were said to be an ingredient in the famous witches flying ointment.
Horse Chestnut - good health and financial prosperity. A useful amulet to hang by one's doorway.
Honeysuckle - to bind love and keep one's spouse from straying, it is one of the binding woods. Often used in spellwork.
White willow - reveals what is hidden.
Namaste,
Alex

Excellent! Thank you all! I always get curious when I see different woods and why I have such a keen attraction to MANY of them. Right now, I'm working on an Oak Staff, that I've been cleaning/sanding to smooth it out. Originally I hadn't intended on sanding it, but my hand doesn't appreciate slivers that much. In addition I look at many different wands and sometimes it's good to have reference material to reference when need be.
If anybody has anything else to add to list, by all means! I wouldn't mind knowing which element is associated with each wood type, if anybody knows that information as well.
Thanks!

I would be interested to know as well Hammer. I am only familiar with wood as an element in connection
with the 5 chinese elements: Wood, Fire, Water, Metal and Earth. In the chinese tradition, Wood is associated with the
planet Jupiter, it's season is spring (growing), direction East and the color green.
You may wish to consider clear coating your staff when it is finished to protect it from drying out and splitting over time, or
even carving soft finger grips (mark with a pencil first around your fingers as they naturally grip the staff) sanding to a smooth
and gentle curve.
There is nothing more delightful than a walking stick. A metal tip if you climb steep hillsides, a rubber cane tip if the trails you
walk on are asphalt, stone, or are flat land.
Fallen or dead wood is ideal, but if you must use live wood, ask permission from the tree, and give an offering (fertilizer tree stakes work
very nicely), being sure to use a sharp blade, cutting at an angle, and coating the resultant cut with a tar compound made for trees.
It helps the tree to heal more quickly and not loose valuable moisture or invite insect to feed on it's sap. Live wood must be cured,
a process that can take up to a year, unless kiln dried. Lay flat in a warm, dry place.
For wands, one can hollow out an indention in the tip to fit a gemstone and use hot glue to hold it in place.
Bright Blessings,
Alex
