Are any of these books good enough to substitute a live mentor on the how to's? I find Crawley's stuff impossible to read and most occult writtings make me space out and makes me wonder if they ever finished high school. I am extremely critical of bad writting that writes for the self rather than the audience. Afterall, I am paying for it.

Not to mention my spirits tell me many occult books are full of you-know-what. I'd like to find a good one that actually works.

I am curious which members learned from books and which from a mentor. I would imagine training from a notable mentor has more weight than anything you can pick up at Barnes and Nobels. Books are OK for intros, but a lot of times I read them and wonder "you got to be kidding me right?"

This is the basic outline of how we could pitch this.
Next, volunteers needed

Who wants to volunteer, and on what subject?

Ellegria, your expertise is needed both for your input but also for your ability with google docs
so we can put this all together.

Who wants to be on the "Protection" committee?

Who wants to be on the DA FAQ committee?

Please put your name down if you want to help. We need to get together a list of volunteers
for Magnolia.

Basic outline of committee goals:

1. We go into the original forum suggestion topic and ask for volunteers on each topic.
So far Protection from unknown sources is a topic and there is a DA FAQ as a topic.

2. CH creates a forum thread open to committee members. One for each subject.
Only committee members can post in the thread.

3. Members will use the search function to find responses that fit the subject.
As many responses as can be found (this is the brainstorming session) are posted to
a single document. (This can be a word doc, or a google doc)

4. We keep adding to and refining. We have a 2 week deadline to get all the answers.

5. Then we start sorting out what we want in the doc.

6. We should chose one preferred answer and two or three alternatives to address various aspects
of the topic. We may edit the original post that was copied to ONLY address the particular portion
and get rid of the fluff.

7. The end result is submitted to Magnolia and Ash to look over and edit as needed. Like the final editors
on a book would do.

8. The post is then put up under a forum topic called "Protection" and the other is put up under "DA" and appears
under every dark art spirit topic.

9. The posts are stickied to stay at the top, and are locked to replies. We should state at the bottom that
discussions into particular spirits or individual issues with protection should each have their own thread.

10. The committee will decide whether to use bylines or not on the quoted posts.

This outline can be modified by the committee, I'm putting these suggestions on the board to get them out there and get
the ball rolling.

Another great idea from Wynter on having the posts copied to a doc for answers. That's exactly what we will need to do in committee to catagorize and organize the answers. There will be a lot of searching, copying and pasting going on.

i'd volunteer, but the only service i could offer is to read through the many pages of articles looking for "HELP I'M BEING ATTACKED!!" type articles. that's right i can have an ideal but i'm about as useless as wet toilet paper, due to lack of experience. but i'm more than willing to help any way needed.
