I can't say much as far as experiences go but i know him. And would love to know any suggestions for working with him.
An i will say that he is quite a character, makes me a bit nervous, but that;s how i tend to be. Perhaps i can actually work on my nervous disposition with him eh?

And i drew him a while ago:

Thank you all for sharing.I can imagine it's deeply personal & would never want someone to feel uncomfortable.I just wanted to get the general "gist" of it.I have looked into it.Googling netted me some results but not much.Thank you Adelphia. The marriage info is very interesting.I would think it's flattering to be proposed to by such a being.I wonder what draws him to do that with some people.Adelphia I read about your experience with Ba'al and found it fascinating.I guess maybe I am far from developing but so deep a relationship as communication for me atm is quite limited. He could be sitting there having a rum and i wouldn't realize it.LOL. Thank you all. :grouphug:

A question (I suppose i am skittish to do research, but i guess i'll have to get over that lol) i'd like to ask here, as there seems to be some quite knowing, or at least have more experience with him.
I know that the Baron has several faces/aspects (Baron La Croix, Baron Cimitiere, Baron Kriminel and of course Baron Samedi). Are they the same entity or each there own? It's good to know that distinction, so any answers would be great.

Also i found this pretty dark purple fabric in my drawer, I've had it for years and now it finally has a use i think. If nothing more than an offering.

That's actually, an incredibly complicated philosophical discussion all it's own. The answer will strongly depend upon the belief system of the person you are asking.

Please bear in mind that the Loa already have an established religious practice, and that I am not a practitioner of that religion, nor have I been initiated into their rites and mysteries. All of my perspective is coming from direct interaction and study on my own, flavored heavily the by the fact that I'm a white girl witch. It's entirely possibly that anything I tell you would be considered outrageously incorrect if you sat down with a real Mambo or Hougan.

But with that disclaimer out of the way... here's my take on it.

At various points in my spiritual journey I have encountered all four of the different Barons. While each displays different preferences and areas of influence, their "general energy signature" is quite similar, not identical. Baron Kriminel is the Loa I've had the least interaction with, and he seemed... distinctly apart from the other three faces. That impression could have been situational on my part, but with such limited experience I can't be certain.

Since my personal foundation is witchy... I see Samedi, La Croix, and Cimiterie much as I would view my own Triple God, with Kriminel as the shadowy "fourth face" that is included in my own families belief system.

If you are unfamiliar with working with the Loa (or Death God/desses) I highly recommend you do some research and read a book or two first. The Barons are complicated figures, and not terribly forgiving if you come stomping through their yard unprepared.

It's been touched on by others, but I think this principle bears repeating; these Gentlemen are not pink bunny fluff and shiny happy time. There is a reason you are instructed to hold the foot of an animal in your hand when you shake on a deal; it's because the Baron tends to take the hand you offer Him at the conclusion of the deal. They have time tables, and can be extremely vicious when They feel slighted or if you don't follow through with your end of a bargain. (including the fine print you didn't see)

No, i am quite aware that they aren't...you know, pink bunnies and that sort.

That's partially why I find it a frightening sort of thing. I don't want to make mistakes on this matter or slight anyone because that would end very badly.
Either way I think he found me really, and I just started really noticing him recently.
I don't think i've peeved him or anything and he seems to like me, but I am trying to proceed cautiously.
I think i will check the library or something.

I will admit I am reluctant to describe my experiences in detail in a public forum. My journey with Him has been deeply transformative, often frightening, and borderline pornographic. He has challenged me to grow, to change, to face my fears and myself, to shed what limits or no longer serves me. He has pushed my boundaries again and again; sometimes because He thought they needed to be pushed, and sometimes just to make me stand up and push back.

He has shaken my world to it's very foundations and forced me past limitations I thought insurmountable.
And I love Him, :inlove: I love Him, :inlove: I love Him.

But it isn't comfortable. It isn't easy. It isn't a journey where you get to make the rules or apply the brakes. I'm also not working with him in a traditional format, as I am not a voudisant, and I wouldn't want to be perceived as trampling all over someone else's religion.

This is one of the first places I staggered into when I first encountered Baron Samedi, and it gave me some idea of what (or Who) was happening to me.

I was embarrassed to buy such a thing, I admit, but for someone who knew Nothing about Voodoo it helped me to grasp some basic concepts and dispel some misconceptions. Later I realized that Way too much of my previous understanding was based on sleazy Exploitation films from the 70's.
You know what is so freaky, Anubis is doing that to me too.
Pushing my boundaries to the limit. It is a VERY hard path. It's actually freaky how much it seems like my own experience with Anubis. I cannot say everything as it is too personal as well.
I basically agree with everything here. I.. think the Baron is telling me something... deeply Transformative, very harsh with me, very hard, facing my fears, everything i have said myself before on Anubis...

What was that Baron Samedi Picture that Adelphia told me about? Connected to Anubis?
Weird freaky Experience with Maythen that is similar to mine? And the picture with Adelphia that links them both?
Baron Samedi has been coming up a lot lately, and I think I may have had an experience with Him, i'm not sure though, but it was not long though.. He was hard on me ;_;

With the picture and I even seen a listing of Him... but I will not work with Him, perhaps He is just telling me something.. perhaps He will come sometime in my life...

Hey girl... go back to your Anubis thread for those details ;). What happened was, my friend was seeking Anubis and felt connected to him for a long time, and who finally came to her after I had cast a spell on her with Anubis for her artwork, but Baron Samedi. She had felt the results of the spell effecting her art immediately and had been intending to paint a devotional picture of Anubis, and who did she feel driven to paint instead, Baron Samedi.

A simple nonthreatening introduction to this type of energy would be to start a small practice of reverence to your own ancestors, or the dead that love you.

I have a small table set up in my home for this purpose. It doesn't have to be formal or elaborate, but if you truly feel drawn to this path remember there are gentle less spooky aspects to start with.

There is a reason people fear Them, but there are just as many reasons that people love and praise Them.

Respect and Love... nothing wrong with that.
