Just thinking aloud, don't bash me.

Honestly, not really. I think we all have personal wishes and that we have to deal with them in a whole variety of ways, and I have found it valuable, to meditate on these kinds of questions, that in some form or another we all deal with ourselves.

Remembe: that anything observed cahnges, so if you meditate on these things, somethinga ppropriate will occur.

Thank you for this quote. I have not heard it before and I think I needed to read it just at this time.

When I think of wishes, I don't tend to think about making physical changes to myself. I figure that there are some things I have control over -- say, reaching my target weight by virtue of eating properly and physical exercise. If I don't support that wish by doing those two things, all the wishing in the world won't help. Heck if wishing was enough to get the job done, I'd have wished myself the physique of a supermodel eons ago.

Other things, I can't control -- my height, age, eye color (well, I could get tinted contacts, but you know what I mean). My DNA is what it is.

Now, wishing for thing X to succeed, good weather on day Y, safe travel to place Z... I figure that's the sort of outcome that we can actually boost with a wish. And a little effort on our part, where appropriate.

My wishes seem to steer more in the self help category. They seem to be me getting well, or out of debt. They also seem to go towards helping others who need it.

Sometimes, when I'm tasking my spirits (or thinking about it) -- not necessarily wishing, it'll be because I've seen something on TV that bothers me. For example, not too long ago, there was a "person of interest" who fled in advance of the police wanting to arrest him in the disappearance of a female college student. My spirits have become familiar with being called together and my asking them, "What can we do about..." In a case of that news story, the request was, "What can we do to boost the police's ability to find that guy?"

Well I don't know what my spirits might have done to boost the cops' work, if anything, but lo and behold, the guy was caught in Texas and extradited back to his home state. But I thank them, anyway, as even if they boosted the odds of success 1%, that's still 1% more than the odds would've been otherwise.

Now, I'm hoping that the PA state police will be able to track down a self-taught survivalist who fled to the woods after ambushing a state police barracks, killing one officer and wounding another. I really, really want that guy taken alive and standing trial, and hopefully with no more casualties of other cops or innocent bystanders who live near those woods. (Anyone else whose spirits are willing to join in and help the manhunt succeed, IMO they're welcome to boost the efforts.)

This isn't actually a wish I've made, though (even though I have several wish-granters). But I do have some spirits, including a Hellhound, who specialize in this kind of tracking. The more assistance we can get together, the sooner the residents' lives can get back to normal. Tourism is way down, and there are businesses suffering through no fault of their own.

L has shown me acceptance of myself and accepting/learning to work with situations that I cannot change.

If anyone thinks of wishes like mine and think that there's no other way and you'll die if you can't have it... Breathe and give yourself time. Maybe just maybe your wishes will work out for you, but mine have shown me that I was immature.

Slowly I've come to love my height, I've accepted my skin color (this was a huge step for me) and I have no problem with my age. These wishes were during a time of desperation and I was very very very foolish. I'm embarrassed by it but I'm in a different place now.

Don't ever see yourself as 'foolish'...you are an intelligent human being with a lot of inner strength, you proved that by changing your perspective of yourself! Not easy, but you did it!
