Oh my gosh. This was excellent. Has anyone seen it? It's now on Amazon and Red Box. Great story line. Magical folks are complex characters.

I loved it so much I bought a copy. And watch it at least once a week.

I thought it would kinda suck (retelling the same story over again) but I watched it anyway
It was REALLY GOOD
I thought they did an amazing job on the whole thing
and the little Maleficent was so cute

Great movie

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Yahweh Sabaoth for ever.

I adore this movie. My kids and I have watched it at least 1/2 a dozen times. So beautiful and I love the relationship between the two.

I feel the movie fell extremely short of openly portraying Maleficent as the dynamic character she actually is. I was really disappointed by this film for that reason. I mean when you get Angelina Jolie for an iconic role you should give her a little more to work with..

It went by too quickly and didn't cover enough depth, did not develop characters well enough as far as I'm concerned. The same issue I had with Burton's Alice in Wonderland - a travesty, really. I adore his work, not sure what happened there.

Maleficent is meant as a true figure of duality, which is not as simple as 'oh I was good, your actions made me bad, but I was still good at heart and good triumphed ultimately'.. Just no. Duality is good nor evil. She was just goody two shoes in a sultry guise, rather than portraying real conflict. Much more darkness ought to have been exhibited given what was done to her.
Disney films used to offer much more subtext, at least, than I could find here.

But I realize it was meant to be child friendly. That's what killed it for me. The old faery tales were never so soft, and they were intended for children. What makes children incapable of dealing with this now? Done right you get awesomeness like Pan's Labyrinth, Coraline, or even Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
So while visually striking, they could have achieved much more with this character, and this film.. rather than the same old boring cliches. Yawn.

“The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself.."
― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
