Are Djinns Demons

Sorry if this is a stupid question but are djinns demons? I'm not talking about hybrids but if djinn are actual demons? Some people have told me that they are but I'm not really sure if this could be said for all djinn or just some types of djinn? Do they just refer to themselves as a demon sometimes?

Well, from a religious standpoint based on the Quran, they're basically demons and only because their leader, Iblis, and his followers refused to bow before Adam. It's basically a mirror story of Lucifer and his angels only that djinn were created of smokeless fire.
From an energy standpoint? No, Djinn are their own race.

As I understand it they are not demons they are a seperate race entirely it's just they tend to lean towards evil and that's why people class them as demonic

They could be. Demons are like mean/tough djinns (shaitan/ghouls/some ifrits). While the bible prohibits working with demons, we have many accounts in other mysticsm demons are great teachers. To me I think the magic offered to Moses was from a djinn/demon. Meanwhile the Quran I cant remember if they can or can't work with djinns. But many religious scholars have argued they can. However in the state the certain religious lands have, I'm not sure if these djinns they work with are angelic in any form.

I tend to think of "demon" as an umbrella term. Whether or not they fall into that category depends entirely upon your definition of the word.
