My daughter and I were sitting outside around 3pm yesterday and heard an owl. He sounded very close but we couldn't find him. After a few minutes it hit me that owls are nocturnal. We looked up the meaning on the internet and it says that it means death. Is that true?

I've heard owls during the day many times and, as far as I know, I'm still here to tell about it.
OTOH, it's probably safe to say that someone died on that day....

Depends on a lot of things.1.what religion your looking at since many diffrent cultures can look at the same animal vary diffrently. A good example is the snake which is a symbol for renewal to some but a symbol of evil to others.The owl may represent death to some but the owl is known as a symbol of wisdom.2.what type of owl are you looking at/have in your area.On the meta side diffrent versions of the same animal can have diffrent messages ans meanings.On the scientific side some owls are more if not completlly diturnal(day) creatures like burrowing owls for example.And years ago I saw a snow owl or at least a white one if it wasn't a snow speificly during midday so its not to hard to have it happen even if you don't see it be it day or night.

3.was it a owl at all. They're not all nocturnal. That depends on the type of owl.

Were you near a potential nest site? Goodness knows what hours the parent owls keep when hatchies need feeding.

And by the way "The Owl" is a hug part of my magical life. I've encountered a 5 foot Owl with a wing span the block the street. And he was not a spirit. We saw him physically standing in front of our SUV.
