Zeus - and some questions

Postby Ryla Grey » Mon Oct 02, 2017 5:43 pm

I woke up early hours of this morning from a dream that had something to do with Zeus.

It was unpleasant, but more then that I got this really strange feeling from it that's hard to explain. I remember thinking "what was it about???" in my semi-awake state. I didn't want to go back to sleep, but I did manage to fall asleep again. It's so weird I cannot recall a single thing, all I know is that it was about Zeus.

I went to the CH Encyclopedia to check his associations and sure enough, his day is Monday...

This isn't the first time an Immortal has popped up on the day they are associated with.

I'm going to share my feelings on him, but please keep in mind that my intent is definitely not to offend those of you who do like Zeus (or Zeus himself). I just want to explain how I personally feel, and if it comes across that way, then I apologise in advance.

I've always naturally favoured the outcasts and rebels. I also lean towards Immortals that are not really known about. I love mysteries.

So this is how I view Zeus..

I see him as Mr. Popular - the guy who loves the limelight, the attention, the recognition.. and myself as the girl who eye rolls at this. If this is true, I understand that he is leader of the Greek Immortals so in all fairness, he has every right to be this way. Although in reality, I am aware that this really cannot encompass all of his personality (it would be silly and unfair to believe that) now with that said, what is Zeus REALLY like? if anyone reading this feels differently about him or experiences him differently, please do respond here and let me know!

To be fair, it isn't just about Zeusy.

"Popularity" in mainstream society terms to me personally, means that a person has followed and upheld the rules & standards of mainstream society, which often makes them popular among their peers (work, social life or both). I'm not talking about the awesome offbeat tracks like this community where CH is popular for completely different reasons. So for "mainstream popularity" - It's not (and has never been) for me. I am a rebel at heart.

I like to bend the rules a bit, and I love to work with Chaos. I respect people who enjoy challenging the standards and perceptions of society in today's world. I especially appreciate people and things that are considered different and out of the norm. I see beauty and potential in unusual places.

Back to Zeus.. to me, I get the impression that he is mostly about Order, which has me thinking it may involve keeping to a society's rules & standards. If this is true about him, I can respect that. But will he push that on me? That's my main concern.

It's more likely, an unnecessary concern I have.

Order... For the most part, I honestly feel like it's controlling, restrictive and suffocating.

Yet, I recognise and accept that there is a need for it within this world. Ironically, I'm currently sitting in a rather Orderly lifestyle (this time, with no complaints and actually with some appreciation). My mother is elderly and has developed signs of Dementia, which is pretty hard on all of us as a family (including her). She is seeing a Neurologist next week. So at this point in time I need to be there for her as much as possible, especially as this condition only worsens. This is the reason for why my life just doesn't seem to have any room for change right now, it's currently (and needs to be) revolving around her. Having said that, my mother is changing.. and we as a family, need to change (adapt) with it.

And maybe that's the lesson I need to learn if I invite Zeus in - change my outlook on Order.

Yikes, Zeus has his work cut out for him is all I can say..

Due to my concern, I have avoided him. And that might be the very reason he appeared this morning. But if he is trying to get my attention, then why can't I recall my dream? ::facepalm::

Looking from the outside in, being open and receptive to Zeus in order to resolve my feelings about him would be the right thing to do. I'd just like to get other people's opinions of him so I can make a decision. What is he really like with you, personally?

Another problem is, I have my hands quite full at the moment - Loki is my priority right now, and then there is Aphrodite who I am still thinking about often so I know she would like me to work with her. Then there is Poseidon, who I want to work with as well. Plus I have an Immortal Reverse Adoption as my BOGO for one of my CH orders that should complete fairly soon. Lots of work with regards to Immortals lately, and it's all really exciting but there's a lot going on at once.

1hg I'm sorry to hear about your mom

As Zeus, I haven't really worked with him so I cannot comment on that, I will soon, though so maybe I can report then.
I have always seen him as a bit intimidating, a little unpredictable maybe. I do know he's a familial connection and I have thought at some point I'd like to contact him, and now the time has come.

About order, it's not all that bad, I'm fairly comfortable with chaos and order. One aspect of order is culture and art, anything "civilized" while chaos is about nature. So order is not all that bad. Some cultures considered men belonging to civilization and order while women and children, along with animals were in the realm of chaos.

 Thanks Aurum.

And thank you for your reply here! I'd appreciate any insights from you when you do get the chance to work with him. As for Order not being so bad, you are totally right. It's just me, lol. You make a great point about one aspect of Order being culture and art, and that's an important one. I need to put things into a better perspective, will work on that. ;)

I don't particularly hate ol'Zeusy myself. I do respect him. Just he's always come off as that guy who gets away with things because everyone thinks it's futile to tell him not to do it.

On a personal level. As far as I've pieced together. Some point in one of my past lives(I think I was a nephew or along those lines) he did something to or against us that I found literally unforgivable. I'm guarded, but curious to see what else I'll find out working with Totem and Cloud Nymph.

I do agree with you here.

Wow, that's interesting. Thanks for your reply Rai, I look forward to hearing about your experiences with Totem and the Cloud Nymphs (if you choose to share of course).

Zeus is not an immortal I am close with, but if you're focused on personality he's definitely far more than he seems.
Zeus is a survivor and bringer of justice so potent it can blind the oldest forces in this universe, however among them the forces he is hugely fearful of and will not alter speak a great deal as well to the respect he grants to those old gods and his capacity to comprehend them. He is an unexpected challenger.
He decides what needs to be done, and does it, and to a great extent he acts in alignment with the Fates.
He is known for being associated with the power of rebirth and is more than this, a savior of rebirth in his mythology, one capable of throwing you to the wolves as easily as he can extract you from the belly of the beast so to speak and give you a chance to see the world anew and be anew.

He's not a very likeable figure if you carry certain biases in favour of the natural forces of this universe, yet from an objective standpoint he shows a great power and strength as one who is actually, inherently a rebel himself able to recreate worlds. Does he really stand for Order? He overthrew the titan hierarchy, he may not have an alignment with the chaotic primordia but he is one who knows how to calculate chaos and use it to do the unexpected and to avenge those he cares about.

As a King he rules with a bit of an iron fist at times, from one perspective he restrained many of Nature's children and origin powers, from another perspective he fought for his own existence - along with his family's chance to thrive - and couldn't have won it any other way. He's born of vengeance and takes it to cultivate his own legacy.
He's a hero god and a slayer god in a sense, a conqueror in any circumstance, and does provoke extreme reactions in this. He brought into being a natural balance in the cosmos where there is a challenger for every creature and a fight born of the very existence between duality and darkness, often blurring the lines. As serious as he is about why it 'must be', it also enthralls him and he may tell you life would not be the same without it.
He may ask you to challenge the existing order, and to confront that which brings havoc to your world, to grow from this - taking control of your own destiny - rather than to meekly accept when the powers that be wish to decide for you. I hear a 'yes' from Zeus to this as I type and will take it he approves this message, lol.

There is something to be appreciated here even for those who are not fond of or adamantly opposed to what it meant for the old hierarchy or for Nature's reign. Wisdom often exists in the places you least want to engage with or accept in your own life.
The power and insight of Zeus can be applied just as well in the life of one who exalts Prometheus (the rebel god who gave fire to humankind against Zeus' wishes) such as myself, for they are just about two sides of the same coin in the realm of fighting for autonomy and what is right.
For that matter it's said and done.. and nowadays as a human wielding fire, Zeus can assuredly guide you if what you seek falls into his area of expertise. One thing is for sure, if you honor him, and he considers you one of his own, he will take care of you.

Deal out Jacks or Better on a blanket by the stairs
I'll tell you all my secrets, but I lie about my past
Send me off to bed for evermore..

Thank you for your detailed response here, Noc. It's appreciated!

This is true.

I had a dream of a rather intense sexual nature (raises an eyebrow at Zeus) which again, woke me early hours of the morning. Zero recollection of the details (like the last dream). I am usually able to recall at least something from dreams as I'm starting to wake up, but these last two nights? *POOF* all of it disappears instantly. Most of the night was restless sleep, and lets not forget my cat who decided to "massage" my foot with all of his precious claws, waking me up very quickly. Throughout the night I was aware of a weird mix of Loki and Zeus and a cat in my face. This trend of not recalling anything is really starting to frustrate me.

Mmm basically agree with what Noc said, he can be stormy as well : )

One possibility, instead of the Order aspect of him, you might have met the Authoritative aspect, which can feel controlling but not necessarily orderly nor with the intent for maintaining order. I think we can feel this when encountering government officials, business leaders, academic professors, etc.

Another one, for the Popularity aspect, it might be due to the Seniority or Experienced, i.e. one who had done all of them and triumphed. We can even see this in famous academic professors who have die-hard followers, and any challenge to their theories is made into personal battles instead of the improvement of theories itself, e.g. Einstein vs Bohr and Hawking vs Susskind.
