Depending on the entity this occurs through a method of words spoken and/or written, certain actions or movements being performed, and most importantly the education & training in conjuration that allows you to perform a conjuration effectively.

As there are thousands of entities to consider not all methologies can be reviewed, however, there are often multiple ways to conjure one type of spirit or one race of spirit. You can conjure a specific entity within a race or you can conjure an entire race. For example, you can conjure the goddess Aphrodite, you can conjure the primordial, Grecian gods, or you can conjure the entire Grecian god hierarchy. Another example, you can conjure a Marid Djinn, or all Arabian Djinn, or all ancient, Arabian Djinn, etc. Depending on the conjuration & actions involved depends on the broad or specific terms through which you are working with a spirit or race of spirits.

for my opinion i think a strong basic foundation is necessary in grounding, visualization and other areas of magick. conjuration is considered a specialized area sort of like going to med school and deciding to specialize in pediatrics or law school and specializing in family law. there is a lot that can go wrong during a conjuration if the knowledge hasn't been learned by a master in that devious spirits can "hitch along" and become quite troublesome. as a former teacher used to say "if you can't banish you should not be conjuring".

other than this i would say try to learn all you can regarding the basics and once you have those then you will be able to go forward fully aware of what you can and can't do plus you will have the satisfaction of knowing you're doing it all in the pathway of masters who have worked before you. just never become discouraged in yourself as nothing worth doing comes fast or easy! slow and steady gets you where you want to be in the end.

many hugs!

Crone, it's so nice that you're posting again! :D
I actually was thinking about this topic today. I never thought I'd be interested in conjuration but the idea came like a lightning bolt to me, specifically about conjuring earth spirits (faeries, gnomes etc). I think it's an idea planted in my head by my earth spirits. I have been practicing magic for years and, although I don't consider myself highly experienced and I may never even call myself that, I feel believe I have a solid foundation. What I lack is resources on spirit conjuration with the purpose of binding that I can trust. I would be happy if you had any suggestions, as there's no way I could find a mentor where I live and I wouldn't easily trust a person to teach me anyway, unless it was someone trusted and respected by the few conjurers I do trust.
