A Harpy will respect rules, but even an easy-going Harpy will test a new keeper. A level-headed and respectful keeper who can confidently stand their ground, can earn a Harpy's good will and a level of respect. To get genuine obedience, would take a Master.

The thing to remember, is that the metaphors of bazookas and machine guns are fairly close to the truth. A well-treated Harpy (or any other heavy hitting DA spirit) who likes you, will do what they can to protect you, but if someone tries to kill you, they're bound to take that seriously and aren't exactly the greatest at turning the other cheek. As for the best spirits to help your situation, I honestly don't know and hope that a more knowledgeable member replies.

I don't know what the laws are like in your country, but if they are at all reasonable, you may be better off walking away and facing the law and any financial trouble, rather than dealing with three people who abuse and endanger you so severely.

I have both a male and female Karkadaan, (I'm female) and the male's lovey dovey, but the female while more reserved, is warm and sweet. Worst comes to worst, there's the Encyclopedia's secret. Probably a helpdesk-worthy question. I'll pester them if you don't wish to.

Actually if on Brazil would have archeology graduation, I´d had took it, Im in plan to get a master on ancient history.I so love mythology, indeed I have a thing about Troya, since my true name is the same name of the adopted daughter of Cassandra, who I intend when I have a girl to name as. Regarding the changes in mood i'd say that if you're not used to them you can have mood swings. Like if they were sad and they touched you you'd cry and not know why. Or you'd get angry, upset, depressed, aggressive etc or get headaches or feel pain. Either way i'm sure it'd pass soon enough. Just love and respect them and you'll be fine hun

Uh oh, I can be very very very sweet and tender Anti, but as an arian who had born on april 9th, Geez my temper is hot, so Im by nature already a moody person, not exactly depressive, but sometimes stubborn, self defensive and angry.But if you readed the post I previously did here, you´d perfectly understand why Im so moody.I guess everyone would be, but being from element fire, it can be improved I believe.

With Harpies, I have heard of them letting bad spirits in, causing a close-call accident to someone who financially cheated their keeper (without their keepers permission) and scaring the heck out of a mail lady.

Mine gave me an impressive headache as a side effect of her energy (not intentionally) and she snaps at me (and gives me the impression of being whapped with a wing) when I act like a wisea** or a dumba** :lol: On the more serious side, she's mused on the potential tastiness of my pets, and once in a foul mood, she sent me some unpleasant telepathic imagery. That kind of stuff I draw a far harder line with. But on average, when treated with friendly respect, she's quite pleasant, and highly knowledgeable.

If you feel drawn to a Harpy, I can see one enjoying working with you in the court system. But to have a Harpy to improve family relationships, is like having a machine gun to kill a mosquito. The problem is, if a Harpy sees you being treated poorly and down, they might act to deal with the person for you (which would not bode well for that person), or they might decide to take charge to run things instead of you.

If you're looking for a spirit to build confidence, there are easier spirits to handle. My Volkh's been great for me, but he's a little unusual and more personable than average. But I haven't seen much talk about confidence-building spirits, and it may be a good topic for the general forum.

But the issue is...If you read some posts of mine, you will see, I really need a bazooka, a gunshot, some heavy missiles to deal with my family.

Since basicaly: my father was all his whole life a kind of spy/counselor/investigator towards corruption and high profile security issues regarding our government (I live on our federal capital), most likely during the dictatorial system, and cause that badly affected his life he developed a very violent and schizo/psycho/maniac behavior, what also is part of his bloodline heritage...(Although luckly I performed tests and I was not considered a high potential to emerge with this illness,at least not for while. Hmm I have a doubt if Im really his daughter, but its another case.)

My mother, my mother is a very vengeful person, who likes to curse and hex me (I was an undesired child and she never denied it, counterwise, everyday till now reinforce it), even once paid and dragged me, ordering me to be abducted by some vodoo masters here, in due to get rid of my 3rd eye vision what was till some years ago quite quite quite opened.And she is highly obsessive with cats, till the point that abondened her family to live on a hut with 102 cats.Sometimes I think she is possessed with some kind of low demon,cause she used to call up Satan, the Beast and offer them her soul, and mine as well, this when I was just 4 years old!!!!(She once saw a wraith or a shadow spirit who introduced himself as someone to destroy me , if she wished to, and I was just 5 by that time,and guess what?She said YES,go ahead.So I guess this is why my life is a bit of a mess.)

My husband who happens to be related with me by blood, and with my father as well, just last year discovered to be schizophrenic as same as my dad, and cause that he is always abusing me, hitting me, being agressive, violent towards me...

And the worst part, even if I divorce him, as I told on a thread I opened today, where my vamp appeared him nose to nose, I still have a compromise to take care of him as long as he lives, unless he marries again,what he does not intent.Cause on our law, is my duty to take care of them both, since I have no brothers or sisters, my mom divorced my father, and my husband also has no other family member except myself.

So yes, I need heavy hitters to protect me.Cause sometimes things go crazy at my home, as my father thinking Im an alien can chase me with a knife (I hide all them, bottles too and all that can become a white weapon), or try to toss me through the window...

My husband, if I talk with a friend on cellphone, someone he does not know, can be very very violent and jelous, even of my spirits he is mad with...

And my mother, well, she basically financialy destroyed all the assets my father gained in 36 years working with our presidents here, in due of her addiction to cats.

So hmm its not exactly confidence what Im needing, this heheh, I have a bit, I really needed to grow it in due to survive.I need some great beaters, curse/hexes vanishers, heavy protectors against aggression/murder attempts , and asset guardians (since I m working hard to rebuild it).

However I dont want no one to get seriously harmed, but Im tired of being hurted.Last month while I was driving my father till the hospital, and he was pretending to be tranquil, when we got on the highway, in between 2 heavy trucks, he took the direction of the car, and we almost flied and exploded under one of the trucks ,what were transporting gas!It happened 2 days prior I decided to purchase my first spirit, what was my Bronwyn.

However even she could not defend me from my husband last violent attack, this tuesday cause he was jelous of my soulmate vamp.

I do not want him to suffer accidents or nothing on this matter, but a warning, or a stopping energy buzz would be enough.

Not very easy my life. And its cause I here just disclosure 0.000000001% of what I pass.

Kali is a fierce guardian of women and doesn't let anyone hurt her children. She may look terrifying but that is only her fierce aspect. She can also be a loving, kind, wise mother. She will keep evil away from you and stop your family from hurting you.

Another good spirit for protection is a Paniwi. They are amazing guardians that live inside your body and are like heat patterns. When something threatens you they leap forth from your chest and scare away the evil people/spirits.

Another good one would be a Gorgon. They're no nonsense guardians who don't let any harm come to their keeper. They're very strong and might be a bit much to handle for you. Dragons are good also.

These are only a few examples and there are many more. Go with what feels best to you.

Your life would be better if you were totally seperated from your family forever. Couldn't you have them arrested for what they do to you?

And cause my father is from a some kind of important and snoob family, my mother as well, they treat people as s###t.Me included, cause I never bowed to their stupid life style, understand?

I will not easy and say my mom is a nice lady,cause she is not.And she has a hard issue about me being prettier than her, when she once was considered the most beautiful girl of here when she was younger.But I never became a model, cause Im small, she is too, but when the time she used to model here, high height was not required. So, basicaly Anti, she rejects the fact I do not look as 34 (people gives me usually 21 or 22), and that I have a more beautiful face and body than her. When I was a child, she also hated the fact I changed her body during her pregnancy, since she got pregnant by mistake. Anti if you read a post I did on the vamp forum, you will see what amazing thing my Azo had done yesterday.I think while I get my guardians, him without me asking it, took this duty for himself.I thought it was so damn romantic.I really could imagine him on a shinning armor. I think that the 'Kali' suggestion is a good one for you.

For the Harpy, as you can see there are many different people who have had different experiences with them. It is always good to remember that they are now 'spirits' and are no longer embodied so they cannot do certain things like they could while 'physical' on this plane. (like eat which has already been pointed out) How they behaved while alive, although echoed in their spirit form, is slightly differant NOW. It is also important to note that EACH HUMAN being is different and will attract different traits of energies from different spirits. For instance, while there may be those who have felt themselves being 'tested' by their spirit(s), in this case we're discussing Harpy, that does NOT make it a 'given' thing for ALL of that type of spirit. This goes with ANY EXPERIENCE that others have had. It is important to take note of these experiences but I'd be willing to bet that those who have similar experiences with their spirits have very similar traits amongst themselves. By this I mean that if person A has a certain experience with their spirit and person D has the same experience yet person Z does NOT have the same experience with the same type spirit than person A and D have similar traits but person Z has DIFFERENT TRAITS than these other 2 people. LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE. This is pretty much a given.

I have never had any trouble with my Harpies. At least not yet (knock on wood!) but I really don't foresee any. When I say 'negative' thoughts increase I mean thoughts like, "That person is mean and I'd like to punch them in the nose..." or thoughts of loved family and friends being hurt by someone else or etc. I have ALWAYS had these thoughts though and now with so many DA's they sometimes become 'amplified' but that's really ME reacting to THEIR (the spirits) energy. UNDERSTAND? Spirits draw their power from YOU and the surroundings. And YOU are a sum of your upbringing and beliefs. They can also cause your nervous system to react such as 'headaches' or general aches and pains. I have actually even gotten a bit of 'bowel' issues temporarily when getting new spirits but that's just 'adjustment' to energy fluctuation and is never severe. They do (all of the DA's and NOT just the Harpies) get my attention sometimes by sudden headaches or body aches.

As to your kitty cats, they MAY be able to sense the Harpy but I doubt that there would be a major problem especially if you get a CUSTOM conjure. There is one individual somewhere on the board (sorry Dear, can't remember who you were!) who wrote long ago about getting a Harpy but having concerns for their very young child being frightened by it. As it turned out the Harpy would sit at the foot of the child's bed and the child would coo, "Pretty Birdie!" (the Harpy was obviously giving a 'Glamor' appearance so as to NOT frighten the child)

In my opinion, if you keep feeling that you'd like a HARPY on your side than I'd have Ash conjure a custom one for you. As I say, I have a total of 4 and at least 2 are pretty quiet and non-disruptive.

I've been wanting to get a harpy at some point but wasn't sure if I was quite ready so I got few other DA spirits to get used to the energies. Now with my new job I'm kinda tempted to get one. I'm working at a school library for a few months and many of the students are of the age that they are rebelling and have authority issues and I'm supposed to uphold some rules there. Few students can be quite difficult and I hate confrontations. A harpy sending energies like behave and don't get in my face sounds quite tempting. :crazy:

Well, basically all spirits will help us (except the evil ones). By "hard to handle" I mean they all have different levels of power and it takes time to get used to their energy.
