The Loxy are crossbreed of fairy being and seahorse who companion the Merfolk of the Atlantic Ocean. It is believed they began life millions of years ago as little pixie-sized fairies who swam in the ocean and flew above the breaks of the waves to safeguard the Merfolk below. Over years and years they evolved and took on their current form of part seahorse and part fairy. They no longer fly above the ocean but stay well below the ocean’s surface in bands of twenty or thirty.

They stay close to the Merfolk and keep them safe from all danger. As they possess the powers of the seas they can deflect, control and persuade any creature in the salty water of the oceans. Loxy are incredibly powerful despite their size of no more than a foot in length as a fully grown adult. They companion Merfolk and are the favorite companions of Merchildren – often Merchildren are given a Loxy at birth as a gift to be their lifelong friend.

The Loxy started as fairies who while on Earth, as part of the original race of water fae known as Oxyphelae, they perished around 200BC. Loxy started as half air and half water fae. Slowly, they evolved into just water-breathing fae and slowly they took on the form of a seahorse-like creature. The fae did not breed with seahorses, their evolution into the sea caused them to take on a seahorse-like form. Loxy have the body similar to a seahorse and their wings are no longer used for flying but propelling through the water. By the time they became Loxy their original name Oxyphelae had escaped the vocabulary of most peoples and cultures, Loxy was a nickname.
