How To Tell If Your Vessel Or Object Is Spirited Or Haunted

Mirrors have long been potent tools for conjuring and viewing spirits. You might remember the old children’s sleepover game “Bloody Mary”, which summons spirits using a mirror.

How To Tell If Your Vessel Or Object Is Haunted

If you suspect an object is spirited, you may decide to use a mirror and invocation to find out for sure. Be aware of the possible psychological and emotional impact from what (or who) is revealed in the mirror. In other words, you may see things that you wish you hadn’t.

Below are two invocations to reveal spirits inhabiting objects. The first one is for White Arts spirits, and the second is for Dark Arts spirits. Use one or both as needed.

For White Arts spirits, hold the object in your hands or position it in front of the mirror and recite the following:
Little friend in my looking glass come out to play
I ask you be a companion haunting me today
Show your face little friend, let me see you shine
I am your beholden and you, dear friend, are mine

For Dark Arts spirits, hold the object in your hands or position it in front of the mirror and recite the following:
Those who dart in the shadows
Those who stroll within the sun
All that seek the liberty of choice
Who know the sides of the Universe
Reveal yourself to me
In full force of your estate, if willing

Like all metaphysical rituals, you may not realize results on your first attempt. Remember that experience, familiarity, and success are gained through patience, repetition, and practice. If you get no results, repeat the process several times to be certain. When executed perfectly, any spirits concealed in an object will materialize in the mirror. Some spirits will linger and others will vanish quickly. Some will try to frighten, and others will curiously stare. Be careful.

How To Banish Unwanted Spirits

Banishment

Place pieces of copper on yourself or around your home (depending on what you’re cleansing). Make sure that the content of what you are using is at least 80% copper which means if you are using pennies they must be pre-1982 or they won’t work. Once you have placed at least one piece of copper in every room or at least one piece of copper on your body recite the following banishment invocation:

You are not welcome here!
I cast you out that your spirit be burned
Let this copper serve as my torch
Let its energy scorch your presence here
Only the power of love and light is welcome here!

Smudging

This is a process by which yourself, another person, your home, or other location is cleansed of bad energies and/or spirits. If you feel you are depressed, upset, ill, or if you’ve had prolonged exposure to anyone with the aforementioned tribulations than it is prudent to consider smudging.

To smudge you will buy a bundle of any of the following herbs:

Φ Sage / White Sage
Φ Cilantro
Φ Cedar / Pine
Φ Lavender
Φ Sweet Grass
Φ Mugwort
Φ Copal

To cleanse bad spirits you will walk the smoldering smudge stick around the location while reciting a banishing invocation:

I cast thee out seekers of evil
Be gone with you now!
Let the cleansing aroma repel you
Only the light can reside here!

Repeat the invocation over and over. Be sure to open all doors, trunks, and any other closed off portion of the location to encourage the ritual to cleanse all areas. You can’t do this wrong so don’t be afraid to go with your gut and improvise if needed. As long as you are intent on cleansing yourself or your home, etc. then you are going to see positive results.

Why Do Spirits Want To Be Kept?

Spirits who want to be kept and participate in Spirit Keeping do so because they want to be part of the lives of the living. Interacting and communicating with us satisfies their need to be useful and helpful. It also allows them to give and receive companionship. These reasons form the foundation of their desire to be kept as a spirit companion.

There are two ways spirits can enter our lives; independently and uninvited, or through invocation and invitation by conjurer.

Spirits want to feel they are useful and needed, the same as we feel in our relationships with others. These are spirits with great desire to be kept, so they position themselves where they can be conjured. They can be either willing to help anyone with anything or drawn to a specific person. In either case, they are eager for interaction and companionship. Spirits will freely decide if they will attach themselves to a person or vessel temporarily, or if they wish to have a binding and participate in Spirit Keeping.

Some spirits, called Unbounds, wander around in search of someone whose specific needs they can help. There are some unbounds who may want to be kept, but in the right circumstances. In those cases, they believe their purpose is particular and exact. This likely accounts for many hauntings people experience by loved ones, ancestors, and strangers.

Other Unbound spirits are simply travelers between the Realms and have no desire to ever be kept, they are simply curious about places, circumstances, and people. They will not stay long and move on freely to other curiosities.

Why Are You Spirit Keeping?

There are likely as many answers to this question as there are people keeping spirits. Spirit Keepers do so for their own personal reasons. One very common reason is companionship. Additionally, many do so in their quest to gain knowledge of different realms, worlds, and time periods. Spirits also guide and help people in enhancement of their natural abilities, as well as developing supernatural abilities. Through spirit companions, many people discover various disciplines of magick, support with spell castings, and other aspects of guidance in paranormal endeavors. Is Spirit Keeping Dangerous?

Spirit Keeping is not dangerous, with the only exception being Black Arts. In any case, it is imperative to work with a trusted, reputable, skilled practitioner to ensure the integrity of what is promised. Under this condition, and when exercising respect and caution, there is nothing to fear- unlike the Hollywood versions of interactions with spirits which distort, dramatize, and sensationalize.

White Arts, Dark Arts, and Black Arts are three distinct classifications for spirits:

White Arts consist exclusively of entities of positive energy, and do no harm.
Dark Arts consist of entities who decide for themselves to be bad or good- in widely varying degrees.
Black Arts consist exclusively of entities of negative energy. They are inherently evil and incapable of doing good.

Your decision to become a Spirit Keeper should be guided by your own personal needs, such as a desire to enhance your magick abilities and an opportunity for a unique, mutually-beneficial companionship.

How Can I Be Sure A Spirit Is Actually Bound To A Vessel?

Firstly, it is important to be aware that not unlike other trades, many sellers on websites such as eBay and Etsy are not experienced professionals. Whether they are incompetent practitioners, inexperienced amateurs, or just complete frauds, they will not give you what you pay for and usually disappear and pop-up under other names over-and-over. Take the time to find a reputable, trusted, and well-experienced conjurer. Real conjurers are driven by ethics, integrity, and morals – they insist upon doing things properly for you.

You will know your spirit companion is truly with you by trusting your instincts and using your natural senses. These are the reliable tools one uses to undeniably perceive an additional presence with you. Understandably, it can be difficult at first to put such trust solely in yourself, but in doing so you will gain the strength and ground needed to build your own abilities and sensitivities. Learn to neither second-guess yourself nor dismiss the smallest paranormal occurrence as sometimes spirits present themselves gradually and subtly as opposed to immediately and overtly.

How Do You Know A Spirit Wants To Be With Someone?

A Conjurer knows a spirit wants to be with someone because the Conjurer feels or hears spirits calling to the person. In a custom conjuration, a spirit who wants companionship with the person will respond.

A Spirit Keeper knows a spirit wants to be with them because the spirit companion interacts, communicates, offers support (even if it’s subtle to the Keeper at first), visits in dreams, offers telepathic messages or intuitive impressions, and any other form of support the spirit companion can bring.

It is crucial to work only with a trusted Conjurer who is well experienced – specifically with Spirit Conjuration related to Spirit Keeping. Ultimately it is the Conjurer who decides which spirit goes with which person. An experienced, trustworthy Conjurer will invest whatever time and effort is necessary to best make that decision for you.

Does Keeping Spirits Attract More Spirits?

The answer is no. Spirit Keeping does not attract more spirits because they already exist around you. This question likely arises because those who keep spirits tend to become increasingly aware of unbound spirits. Unbound spirits are simply spirits who aren’t being kept. They are already everywhere, regularly moving about as they wish. Therefore, welcoming spirits into your home doesn’t make you any more or less susceptible to other spirits.

Spirit Keeping is not evil or slavery by any measure. It is a mutually beneficial and mutually voluntary relationship. You choose to be a Keeper with your own freewill, and a spirit chooses to be kept by you with their own freewill.

What Makes A Spirit A Suitable Companion?
