Stryx are supernatural, nocturnal birds that behave like Vampires. They are intense, naturally-predatory, and hunted only after sundown.  They could take down prey two or three times their size.  They were recorded in ancient history across many civilizations, and had a commanding presence in the prehistoric world.  Stryx, also known as Strix, Striges (pl), and Strixes (pl), were fearsome members of many ancient lands.  They were often deemed a bad omen during the historical records of humanity, but were not considered a bad omen by Elves or Giants of prehistoric eras.  The Stryx were welcomed guardians of the land, and often a warning system for would-be occupiers or invading forces.  The Stryx required some offering or inclusion into the spoils of the land & harvest, and maintained a symbiotic relationship with other species. 

As spirit companions they are intense with psychic power, and can strengthen any natural abilities you possess; supernatural or natural.  Stryx are usually engaging as spirit companions and work well with other Dark Arts spirits. Secret to Keeping

These Dark Arts secrets were previously not known outside of family and Creepy Hollows collectors. They are secrets discovered by Ash and he has generously agreed to share them with all collectors because having the right secret and being able to properly handle DA spirits is more important.

Caring for your Stryx is the same as caring for any other spirit except being a creature of duality there is a way to keep your Stryx under control if you feel it is becoming too energetic, too strong in manifestation or too "in your face". Place the vessel of the Stryx near pig meat or chile powder,they become subdued and submissive. Only use this technique if you feel the Stryx is becoming too strong for your liking- some collectors like their spirits to be "on the go" all the time so it is your judgment call.
