Vrykolakas are a form of "undead" predator whose form is human-like but do not have the glow or shine of life within them. They usually have sullen or weathered-looking appearance, their eyes are darker around the eyeball, and they can become engorged or swollen after they feed. They prefer fresh meat when feeding but are known to devour blood as well. They are intense predators who should not be taken lightly. They have an intense drive as predators and they will help you to sharpen and hone your predatory skills. They are aggressive, scary-looking, and have a keen sense of the weaknesses and vulernabilities of others. They are classified as "Vampires" because of their thirst for flesh & blood, and in some tales Werewolves were said to turn into Vrykolakas under certain circumstances, but it is important to note Vrykolakas are merely Vampiric in nature and are not Werewolves, they are a species unto themselves. They are recommended for experienced Keepers in spirit form as they retain their fearsome personality and their terrifying manifestations. They can be difficult to control for the inexperienced. Their size, shape, behavior, and color can vary by region.

Secret to Keeping

These Dark Arts secrets were previously not known outside of family and Creepy Hollows collectors. They are secrets discovered by Ash and he has generously agreed to share them with all collectors because having the right secret and being able to properly handle DA spirits is more important.

Caring for your Vrykolak is the same as caring for any other spirit except being a creature of duality. They are not fond of being in direct sunlight for long periods of time. If you place their vessel in a sunny window or outside it will usually settle them. If they are bound to your spirit usually the threat of transmuting them to a vessel for the purpose of placing them outside is enough to make them calm down. Only use this technique if you feel they are becoming too strong for your liking- some collectors like their spirits to be "on the go" all the time so it is your judgment call.
