Loch Ness is a colloquial name given to an aquatic species known to inhabit both fresh and salt waters. While their primary home waters are fresh waters like lakes, they can temporarily survive in salt waters for passage or short-term hunting. They are a prehistoric species whose modern name is attributed to the spotting of their species in Loch Ness in Scotland. The frenzy continues to find proof of their continued presence on Earth as of today.
Loch Ness as prehistoric aquatic creatures were typically blue, silver, grey, or light-brown in color. They could be anywhere from 10′ to 20′ in length, with a tough exterior skin that was impervious to freezing temperatures of deep waters. They preferred to scout for food in the shallows as a greater variety of foods could sustain them as opposed to the limited food found in greater depths. They can breath both water and air, and can sustain long periods either above or below water. They have fin-like appendages in the front, and dragon-like feet in the back, with long and sharp claws. They could use their tough skulls or their back claws to grab prey, but typically they fed on smaller aquatic life that bloomed and could easily be scooped up in their mouth.
They had sway with Water Elemental magick and could command water to their demand, such as creating water spouts, spontaneous currents, rogue waves, etc. They are traditionally shy, elusive, and moody as a species. Loch Ness aquatic species also held a unique and special bond with Immortals associated with water, and therefore became much-honored ambassadors on Earth. Loch Ness aquatic species were also quite protective of other aquatic species, including powerful species like Merfolk, Nymphs, Water Fae, Nixies, Naiads, etc.
