ash gave very good advice and never use a pendulum with a spirit attached to it because the spirit may try to influence the answer. start each session with a cleared pendulum which has been cleansed of energies from the prior session. you can run the pendulum under cold running water; cleanse it in fresh sea salt; or other techniques which you might find by using the search function here for archived threads where the information has been generously offered by members, as well as magnolia and ash themselves.
i could go through my grimoire and pm you with a tried and true protection rite that is simple for both novices and masters alike. never do anything without having some sort of protection around you. just my thoughts and again, the first cup of coffee hasn't kicked in yet -
