so for majority of the day our pup was her normal self. my son went out to feed the horses and let her out of the kennel to give her water. she is use to fresh water but he gave her a bowl out of one of the troughs. afterwards when she was brought in I realized that she wasn't acting like her normal self. I went to check on her and she didn't make a peep and just turned and looked at me and looked away. I opened her carrier (she has to be kept in one at night because she chews everything) and she started attacking her food like she hasn't eaten in forever. I thought this was weird, as she has food in her kennel outside. I came back to the living. room and it couldn't have been more than three seconds and I heard a small bang on the carrier door... I knew immediately that she was having a seizure, but it was one of this "have to see it to believe it" things. I opened the carrier and yelled at mom that she was seizing. she pulled her out and we didn't know if she had choked on the food since she was eat so fast or what happened. she started the chest thrusts and trying to clear her airway... but she was breathing, her chest was moving, so I knew she was choking. it popped in to my head to get water down her throat, so I got a syringe w/o the needle and a cup of water and squirted it to the back of her throat as far as I could. she immediately came out of the coma like state she was in, thank goodness. she is still kind of out of it, like she's learning to wlk, hear and see for the first time. but, nonetheless, she's alive and will hopefully be recovered by morning. it would have broke my moms heart of she would have lost her!

I think that she will be fine, she's just got to pull her motor skills together again. there's nothing worse than feeling helpless in such an emergency when death is a strong factor. I just thank which ever one of my spirits threw it into my mind to get the water down her throat.

I for some reason don't have the option to edit, but it should say "I knew she WASN'T choking"

she's doing better now, she's responding and up walking around and wagging her tail. her behavior is still... odd, like burying herself in the corner of my mom's closet, wagging here tail... she was insistent on trying to stay in the corner. I don't know what that was about. but nonetheless, she seems to doing better, but will still be given shots of penicillin just invaded she came in contact with parvo.

So glad to hear she is on the mend, I know what it's like to be in that situation, our little furry friends are the best and its so awesome that your spirits were there with you guiding and helping u through xxx

I am glad she is getting better. Just keep an eye on her for the next week, and take her to the vet if you can. She might need treatment. Just a thought, but, could something she could not tolerate have gotten in the horse trough. They can tolerate things dogs cannot, being larger.

she drank from the smaller trough that's for the outside dogs... someone around here owns pigeons and they seem to congregate in our yard. I think that she just isn't use to the trough water and has no tolerance for it.

and to update this morning she back to her normal, happy, hyper self!! lol
