My daughter's baby kitten. Put to sleep today because of internal injuries after being accidentally stepped on in the middle of the night. Just a few weeks old, and too dark to see in the middle of the night without lights on.

Poor little peanut. Sending healing.

Tip & Joey, just a week out of pouch, passed within hours of each other. Glide free little babies.

I agree. We have two in our care that had a rough start. They were abused by their former owners.

RIP to Mr. Squirrel who lived around the corner.

There are two parts of my normal dog-walking route where my dog and I would encounter squirrels. One is right near our house -- and I actually think there is a squirrel's nest in the tree in front of our house. The other place was around the corner. My dog (a Chihuahua/Corgi mix, most likely) loves to bark at squirrels. But I think they started to realize after a while that the dog wasn't going to be allowed anywhere near them, because they sure have started to take their sweet time about climbing a tree or telephone pole.

This morning, the dog and I encountered Mr. Squirrel From Around The Corner. He looked just fine, and while he did make a point to stay out of our way, eventually he had to cross in front of us to get to the nearest telephone pole, making my dog all happy because he had a squirrel to bark at.

Unfortunately, during our dinnertime walk, when we went around the corner, I discovered that Mr. Squirrel is now climbing trees at the Rainbow Bridge. He must have had an unfortunate encounter with a car at some point during the afternoon, because he was perfectly fine this morning. Poor little critter. Romp In Paradise, Mr. Squirrel. I hope you do know that I would never have let the dog get close enough to do any harm.

I had some concerns for a while about whether the squirrel from around the corner was the same one that we'd see near our home. But then when we were on our way back to the house, who was right there foraging but the squirrel from in front of the house. so they're NOT the same squirrel, thank goodness.
