RIP to little Myrrh, a newborn puppy that the rescuers at Austin Pets Alive were trying to save, and to two of her siblings. A mama dog gave birth on Christmas Eve at the rescue for which my online friend volunteers. Some of the pups were robust and are with the mother dog now. Two others didn't make it, right from the outset, and three were alive but fragile. Those three were nicknamed Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. Frankincense has responded well to intensive care. Gold and Myrrh were still in fragile shape. Myrrh lost her battle today.

But I'm sure she knew she was loved, right from the moment she drew her first breath. That's more than a lot of unfortunate dogs can say, which is why there are rescues like Austin Pets Alive in the first place.

Gold seems to be trending in the right direction, so let us pray that she and Frankincense pull through and rejoin their surviving siblings.

Huge hugs to you. You will see him at rainbow bridge some day. Meanwhile, he is having the time of his life there with all of the other furbabies that went before him.

My older sister and closest friend, Sunshine, a golden retriever, put down of old age 1993-2010

My fat old buddy, Domino, a lizard who I love, died of natural causes 2006-???? (his decendants still roam the yard)

My sweetheart, Honey, a black widow, a wonderful teacher of whom I learned much

Huffette, I still feel that they are there. They may not be in the physical, but I feel that the bonds we make in our lifetimes transcend the physical and temporal dimensions we exist in.
