I am so sorry. It's been hard to adjust. Gaby was a cat that made herself very present in our lives... there is a hole in here at the moment. We're going to have her cremated and her ashes will be inside a chest with my favorite picture of her on it.

She sounds like my beloved Gizmo. He was a special dog, in that he could make you feel either welcome or unwelcome, depending on how you treated me. Losing him was like losing a three year old. After a few months, I bought the binding from Creepy Hollows. It is the "bind spirit of beloved pet" binding. It helped the grieving process, though I still miss him laying his head on my arm and sleeping there every night. I don't think we ever stop missing them... they leave a permanent mark in our lives.
Gaby was cremated today... I wish I could keep her little body with me forever... it hurts that her beautiful eyes and orange fur that looked like fire when she was sunbathing was burned to ashes... but I know her body wasn't going to be eternal and that she doesn't need it anymore.
I would give anything to hold her one last time.

Her body was no longer a suitable vessel for her lovely little spirit. It still does hurt to lose the physical connection to any loved one, human or otherwise. But we're lucky enough to know that their REAL self, which isn't physical, will never leave us.
