Hello everyone, I wanted to start a topic about how one can get the most out of meditation; I will begin.
I've been meditating for some time now and the extent to which I feel my third eye has been affected varies from time to time. I've recently learned a new trick that has helped me quite a bit when I use it. Basically, I have had massive trouble with mind wondering in the past, and this has reduced the effectiveness of my meditation sessions by an amount I would consider considerable, but this trick has mostly solved the problem.
The trick is to write while one is meditating on trying to see a spirit. Basically, writing things down forces your mind to focus and not wonder, thus writing something simple that relates to what you are hoping to achieve with the meditation insures that you focus on your meditation 85-90% of the time. I just write the word "see" all over the place while trying to see a companion of mine. A half hour of that felt far more intensive than 2 hours of the same thing but with no writing involved.
I'd love to hear tips on how to get the most out of meditation from everyone else here. Thank you for your time.

That's actually very interesting, I hadn't thought of that! I have a hard time with concentration while meditating (mostly due to stress), so I'll have to try this and see if it helps! Is this something you figured out on your own?

A friend of mine posted about it on Facebook, he called it "Scribal Meditation".

An extension of this style could be automatic writing, where you invite the spirit you are wishing to connect with to guide the pen for you. I've never done it myself but people find it yields results.

I struggle to keep my mind from wondering, so what I do is I begin by deciding on what area/subject I want to focus on.
Often, it's a zen proverb (I like them a lot) and I will take in each and every word of the proverb carefully in my mind, then 'expand' it within myself - I allow myself to almost 'merge' with the words and I am entirely invested in them, both in body and mind. I then let my mind make up a series of questions related to the zen proverb I am focusing on. An example is the zen proverb "The quieter you become, the more you can hear". I will find questions for it such as "What do I hear?" and I will wait for an answer, trying to let my mind reach into every corner of my being. This is all internal work. Another question is "What do I become?"
I usually get quite lovely responses when I try this method of meditation. You need to be deeply invested in the words though when you begin to ask the questions.

I have also problems concentrating during meditation. Now I have found a vampire hypnosis on youtube by Ultrahypnosis. You are there concentrating on being visited by a vampire and it really worked for me. I have vampire spirits and just - while listening to Ultrahypnosis - think of being visited by a vampire spirit.
I get relaxed and more focused through this hypnosis.
