Bingo. My parents always told us that if it were worth having, it is worth working for. If you want something worthwhile, work for it and fight for it.

I find it sad that in a community of people who regularly interact with actual spirits, real vampires, etc....that it would be necessary to post a warning such as this. Thank you, Mags, for posting it! It just saddens me that it was needed. Media of all sorts (including written media such as BOOKS) sensationalize everything for the sake of profits. Even "true stories" are rewritten to make them more entertaining. Hell, even "reality tv" is scripted. There is very little at all left in the media that isn't either made up or twisted into a more profitable form.

...as one of the apparently few remaining individuals acutely aware of the manipulation of media to meet entertainment standards, I frequently wish for the opportunity to read the few (and apparently boring) texts in existence describing the real entities that are so frequently sensationalized in popular media. It's a shame that "conjurer's" would take advantage of fans of popular fiction...but I've been seeing it for years.

And this one as well, bumped.

Similarly, not confined to Hollywood, but any work of fiction : )

I'm a little late to this, but I thought I'd add my two cents on to it. I understand why you would say it because yes it's fiction. It ranges from an exaggeration to outright lies. That said though, I myself do believe that even the most fiction of mediums often have some grain of truth to them. For example, Ghostbusters. While everyone knows it as this comedy, horror, action franchise, most people don't know is that, Dan Aykroyd one of it's creators has based it off his and his family's experiences regarding paranormal phenomena. Such as his Grandfather on top of being a dentist, was a mystic and even corresponded with famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on the subject of spiritualism. The way I see it, many people who make these shows either seen something or known someone that seen something, then chewed up the story and exaggerated it for entertainment purposes.

Are you suggesting that in true bloods, the romance between Eric and Sookie was not REAL? How dare you sir!!

Just kidding, I have never watched the show. It reminds me of that Kirsten Steward's cheating reaction video some time ago 'I dont know if there was something I could have done', lol!

Please excuse my random comment. Its been a long week :)

Japanese manga and anime characters are NOT real either ..

However, having said that, some of them are BASED on some real entities / spirits, but transformed into a comic / animation character (eg Kitsune).
