Sometimes my sister will get these intense migraines, she can't do anything when she gets them them but cries, and sits until it's over.
I was wondering if anyone can suggest something that will help.
She doesn't want to take medication for it.

Medication may help.

I dislike taking pills, but a migraine with the pain equivalent of a sledge hammer smashing into my skull and then exploding conquers my dislike of pills. Ibuprofen becomes candy.

I will tell you such foul truths and such beautiful lies, you will want to sew my lips shut.

As an alternative I'd suggest yoga. Yoga was a pleasant surprise for me and can avert the severity of many physical ailments. Do some yoga (tell your sister) and see what happens, make it a practice - not simply during migraine but consistent. It might not work, but it doesn't hurt to try and yoga is nice anyway.

Also this may be stating the obvious, but if her diet is crap she might need to reassess it.. most normal people are inadvertently consuming really debilitating additives even if they are choosy about what type of this or that they will eat. It makes a difference. And drink lots of water.

I used to get bad migraines, I don't know what happened other than being awesome (maybe wine and chocolate.. I won't encourage your sister on that to be fair) but I simply do not get them anymore.. so what I noted might be helpful! Relax, fill your body with only truly nourishing stuff, pay attention to what your body needs at any given time no matter what it is.. migraine can be a body's way of screaming for help.

agree with Zero, if the pain is unbearable and disturbing my life, I prefer to eat the medicine than dies from pain.

also bath in morning sun is good for body and relaxation~

psst... my fam said they don't want any public name so I guess I have to keep using their race ^w^

I actually asked this same question elsewhere recently. Some of the recommendations I received are:

-Magnesium
-Caffeine
-Feverfew
-Tea made from chamomile or thyme
-Heat applied to the shoulders and the base of the skull
-Daith piercing
-Peppermint oil or lavender oil applied to the temples
-Crystal points applied to the temples
-Butterbur

Hope these help!

Hmmm, I'm tempted to try the daith piercing. I hate having to take a ton of meds. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hello, and first may I say that I am sorry your sister has migraines. I have had them for years and they are so bad that they even cause severe visual disturbances. When they are really bad the only thing that helps is to go into a dark room, cover my eyes with a cool rag and take sumatriptan prescription medicine. I have been vegan for years, don't smoke or drink and do yoga, as well as work with crystals and homeopathic cures for most of my health ailments, but..... When my migraines hit NOTHING helps but the medicine. I have never been one for prescription meds but sometimes modern science is the answer.

Personally, When I get a migraine, the only thing I want to do is go into a dark, quiet, cold room and beat my head off the wall. This is not productive however, and serves to only increase the pain. (Plus you have to explain why there are holes in the wall.)
That hole? Oh, that's from my forehead.
I would listen to the advice of the others.

Recently I have been reading about celiac disease. Migraines can be a result of it. Gluten tends to affect the body long after eating wheat, rye, and barley. It can be hard to connect migraines with celiac disease, which often does not get diagnosed.
