Do we have personal/assigned reapers?

The title says it all. Since there are so many around, I wondered about the possibility:
...if, at the time of our death, there's a chosen reaper/death/ankou to take us away?
Are they assigned to us from the beginning of our live?
Do they come randomly?
If not assigned, could we ask e.g. a companion of that kind to take us away when the time has come?

This just randomly popped up in my mind, would be great to hear your opinions!

T Lobsang said that everyone is greeted in the astral when they die. My favorite reaper is the Carolina Reaper, but sometimes I would rather have Calgon take me away.

I'd always thought that when I'd die, I would wake up in a field to start my Astral Traveling adventure.... But your point is vaild. I am curious as well. A psychopomp?

I dont think so, i have a female reaper in my spirit family and she wanders around and seeks out those whose time has come so i dont think anyone has an "assigned reaper" but i could be wrong tho, but still i am sure that when my times comes, she will be there to assist me in death so in a way i have my own personal reaper.

If you are really concerned about it you can always find classes on phowa and be prepared when the time comes. You can learn it from books, but I haven't really had success with any of the Six Yogas of Naropa that way. I'm hoping to have lessons in person some day when I have more money. Until then, I will just keep trying.
