I have noticed that whenever people speak of were beings, the ones primarily mentioned are werewolves and the odd weretiger or werecat, what about all the rest?

*were does mean man, as in human, yet I chose for this thread to include shifters that while not considered human, have the form of man and can take the form of other creatures; Encantado for example unless I am mistaken. ‘Man’ in this case after all can also be taken to mean one whose primary form is that of man, not necessarily a human. (Language loopholes are fun)

Werefox
Were-coyote
Werehyna
Weredolphin (the encantado count as this in a way)
Werebear
Were-eagle

And these are just the ones I found mentioned in other listings on CH and the Encyclopedia article for were-creatures

Others that I am curious of
Werecrow or wereraven (though I think stryx can count as raven/crow shifters)

Oh to add; a kitsune is a fox that can shift into human form as far as I know, their primary form is that of a fox, a werefox is a human, or broadly a humanoid, that can assume fox form.

Any experiences with any of these shifters human or not

I have a Badger Shifter as a companion and he is amazing! Fiercely protective yet kinda lazy when nothing's going on lol.
He's really fun to cuddle with in Badger form, very soft and sweet, naps together are one of his favorite bonding activities lol. His energy is very soothing and he's been helping me with my anxiety and my insomnia.

If you do not mind me asking, is he a bound spirit or an unbound that sticks around? If bound who did the binding? I did not know badger shifters even existed until you posted, so very grateful for the information 1s

I don't mind at all. He's a bound spirit by Billy and he is amazing. All of Billy's conjures are super strong energetically, I have several companions from him.

My Bagger Shifter was a preconjure though and not something that's offered normally. However I'm sure you could write Billy and ask if he's ever come across another!

I also have a Minotaur Shifter who is incredible! He's a real warrior, very protective and proud. He's really big and tall in his human form but in his Minotaur form he's completely massive!

And my best friend has both an Owl Shifter and a camel Shifter in her keep! I don't know them personally but from what my bff tells me they're great too! The Owl Shifter is on the darker side of DA though lol.

A camel shifter, surprising; one does not hear much about herbivore shifters. The owl shifter being on the darker side makes sense; owls are heavily linked with the spirit world and underworld. Owls are connected to death as well so it is not to surprising that a shifter whose form is the owl would be on the darker end of the spectrum.

You are...: new to this
Male/Female: It's a Secret
Zodiac:

Others mentioned in encyclopedia:
Were-boar
Were-fish
Were-lizard
Were-rat

Although, not sure if shapeshifter can be included as some of them can shift into various forms. Non-human races that can shift to human might not be a good idea as well, since there are elves, dwarves, faes, vampires, etc who can shift into other forms.

If you go with CH definitions, there are 3 groups of were-creatures:
1. pure blood, i.e. they were never human, their parents (if they have) are both the same were-creatures;
2. turned human, i.e. they were human before, get turned due to curse, infection, etc.
3. halver, i.e. they are half-blood, their parents are human and other races.

Thus if you include halvers, then the list gets longer, including:
Were-Angel
Were-Cambion
Were-Dwarf
Were-Elf
Were-Faery
Were-Giant
Were-Immortal
Were-Merfolk
Were-Troll
Were-Vampire
Other were-races whose parents are said to have procreated with human

So on the subject of "were" creature spirits... if I have a werewolf spirit bound, how do I know which type (Pure blood, turned, half-blood) has been conjured? I realize contacting CH support would be the first place to go, but I'm curious because their description never says anything about that.

Usually, especially from CH, the weres conjured are pure blood. If they're turned or hybrid it will usually say so in their info. If you get a custom conjured werewolf it's a pure werewolf the conjurer is calling out for, so that's what comes through for you.

Usually if it's a hybrid or a human who was turned chances are it would be a pre bound companion, or possibly a completely open reverse adoption, and it would always say so in their info.
