Okay, so...I've never been able to project. Either that, or I'm not remembering anything once I'm back.

And a couple of spirits in my keep are starting to drop hints that maybe, possibly, this might be a good time to finally learn this, so we can all get together, be it to hang out, or semi-formally work on next steps.

Except that I've tried just about everything I can think of, and nothing. Monroe's program is supposed to be darn good, but it's cost prohibitive. Binaural beats? Nope. Visualization? I can only hold it for so long, before falling asleep all the way.

I even asked my incubus, E, for help with this, and...same thing. I could tell he was around, but before very long... :snore:

I'm told I snore like a chainsaw, if that matters.

Where do I even begin...?

I'd say start with partial projection and work your way to full projection, partial projection is when you are aware of your physical surroundings and your surroundings in your projection, or you can start with learning lucid dreaming and use it as a catalyst to project.

Personally, I started with physical projection, projecting my energy body onto the physical plane we live on because you have to have your energy adjust to being further out from your physical body each time, like gaining endurance so your projection lasts longer. When I got further I went into astral/mental projection to work on my disconnecting and such, then moved onto etheric projection.

So basically, start small and work your way up because the further you go out in a short time the harder it is to remember and the projection often doesn't last long.

Gonna assume you're going for astral projection while asleep, and not while awake (some works better for others) however if you do wanna try for wake-projection (which is the kind I prefer, and have more experience with) as the above person mentioned: start small.

I started AP'ing while awake, initially just from visualizations gradually transitioning to actual astral movements.
The exercise I recommend to anyone, is the "ball" method.
Sit on a chair, with your legs on the floor (or close enough anyways) and visualize mentally, a ball effortlessly balanced on your foot. Could be a soccer ball, a rubber ball, whatever.
Then swing your foot slowly up, and, in your mental visualization, "watch" that ball get launched into the air, go up, and come back down, landing back on your foot.
And again. And again.
Focusing on astral, as I've learned from a variety of people, has different "triggers" for different people, and the same method may not necessarily work. However, learning the variety of methods to try, helps.
How does this one help? Well, your capability to visualize, and "see" things mentally, helps build what some call the "mind's eye" which is how you see when you connect astrally.(while awake anyways) I see it like a mental video/image in my mind, like if you were to recall a memory.

The next step would be figuring out how to take that one step further, and "find" your astral self, closing your eyes, seated, or lying down, and seeing if you can "project" your mental energy, your sight, your "awareness" further than yourself. I happened upon mine almost by accident. It's been a while since I started, so it's a bit foggy, but it started with me just talking with my astral companions, noticing how I could "sense" them, and I kept having a want to hug them, or be in physical proximity.
That eventually transisitioned into exactly that, through exercises driven by my motivation.

I had finished this post when I saw someone else has replied. Still I'll submit it in case some of it is useful info.

A good tip is to do it when you're not sleepy - ie not just before sleep. Even have a nap to get that sleepiness out of your system then do your astral travel practice knowing you will not fall asleep. Being physically comfortable in an armchair, on a couch or on a bed helps, as long as you don't go into sleep mode.

You want to achieve bodily relaxation, as well as mental relaxation, and be psychically comfortable by doing appropriate protection and preparation beforehand and having your guides ready to assist, guide and protect. Protect and ground afterwards. Some systems will teach means of protection that can be use in the astral if needed.

Sequential physical relaxation like that used in the classic yoga corpse asana will be good.

This kind of astral travel is a form of light trance during which you are conscious / aware but ideally in the alpha state of relaxation. You'll remember most things afterwards.

Dream or sleep travel for me is a different category requiring different preparation and techniques.

Sometimes the words we use matter. Sometimes they don't. I think of astral travel as involving my astral body leaving my physical body. Rolling or stepping out of it is one method. Climbing a rope works for others. Having a servitor or specialist spirit pull you out works for some. I don't use the word 'project' as that suggests a different process to me.

My usual recourse to learning anything is to find a good book. Learn a complete, tried and tested system and stick to it. Some books teach chakra and aura work alongside the actual travel. Books will also orient you as to where to go, what to do, who to meet, what to expect the astral to be like.

Personally I don't go for pick and mix. Sticking to a recognised system works for me. Other ways work for other people of course.

Is it possible that you are actually astral projecting in your sleep but just don't remember? If that is the case you can try doing some dream recall exercises. Many people do AP while they are sleeping and it can take the form of extremely vivid dreams that make a bit more sense than typical dreams.

Memory Recall can be an issue. You may need to tell yourself that if you accomplish astral projection, to keep it short at first - like literally no longer than a few seconds. Also, take the excitement of success back with you so that might feeling might trigger a stronger memory. Just some thoughts. I am not aware of other exercises, but those are a couple of keys I've read about when it comes to memory and AP.

Hey...can u pls guide me on this astral projecting...u said a method....what happens after or during it...how do u know ubr asteal travelling..or how is it...dont know anything about it..pls explain...!

The way I personally do it at least when I started out was mostly getting into a partial meditative state, when I say partial is because in this state my focus is on my energy body because when you're projecting you're basically projecting an energy body out so I focus on moving my limbs without moving my physical limbs, when doing this it causes me to move my energy body's limbs instead, I started slow and exercised my clairs to try and perceive my energy body, seeing my arms, legs, etc.
