Hi fellow CH'ers,

Had a question. I am a bit confused on the having protection but still able to get attacked.

For example having a spirit family consisting out of a dragons, elf, spinx, guard. Angel and many more...

..how is it still possible for a person to get attacked on by a jinn while having such a protection?

I assume that if you have protectors in the family and task them to protect me, that it would be enough or am I missing a clue?

Personally, I'd always setup protection no matter which arts I was using.

I don't know if this is what you're asking about but I think there can be a psychic/magickal version of what is explained in that Protection article in the Encyclopaedia, for which the link was given ...

Just as it would be unwise to walk up to a big hulking bad guy and punch him in the face, because you think your protection spirits will keep you safe from absolutely anything...(this is explained well in the article)...I think it can be equally unwise to do the same thing in a magickal or psychic way. Does that make sense?

I mean if you expose yourself, you can become vulnerable either physically or paranormally...it seems to me.

By the way have you read the section on black arts?

The term black arts is used in this forum in a very focussed, narrow meaning of referring to those spirits that are ruled by their nature to only cause chaos and destruction and are virtually incapable of being controlled or tasked. I assume black arts magick might also be used here to describe magick that is inherently destructive and uncontrollable in the same way.

What people elsewhere often mean by BA spirits or magick would be called Dark Arts here.

I get the physical part and the idea of they are not there to back you up al the time if it is in your destiny.

But how about someone for example on purpose send a jinn to me with bad intentions. Is it still destiny of mine that Ill have to "suffer" or the sender to do bad stuff?

In all honesty, if the attacker is strong enough... it doesn't matter how many spirits or entities you have
tasked to protect you. You can't just rely on your keep alone. You need to employ possible spells of protection, which CH has plenty of. There are also other sellers, who offer their services here, who can help you as well.

Ok so I'm not the resident expert, although I have picked up a fair bit.

I'm not sure your destiny makes your protection spirit unable to protect you. It might be more that circumstances rendered someone vulnerable before protection could be brought to bear, because of destiny.

And there are spirits that specialise in protection and that specialise in different types of protection - not all protection spirits have exactly the same ability or coverage. A Volkh is described as the fiercest protector. That to me suggests some spirits may not be quite as capable at protecting. And they say you can never have too much protection.

I still have this personal feeling that what we do can either put us in the line of fire or take us out of it. So we have a role to play in keeping ourselves away from magical conflict - rather than, say, looking for it. That's my preference at any rate.

One view of the perfect protection is probably that it consists of:

- A protection spirits team (that can include sentient servitors with protection abilities)
- protection spells and charmed items
- personal protection work
- a safety first approach to our psychic or magical work

Thanks guys I think it is clear to me now.

Spirits are not the full body armor protection, it is more of a blend of all to make it work.
It is a blend of spirit, spells with a healthy mental approach. Well that explains a lot to me !

Black arts magic here is usually termed as magic that it's sole intent is to cause harm in a catastrophic and possibly life threatening manner. They are magics that not only cause harm to the one that the spirits are cast upon, but also the caster as the payment for such a spell is more than just the energy expended. Often physical loss on the casters part is required.
