This might not be a huge suggestion, but it would be nice to have the option to avoid emotes in general when making post.

One, because I find a lot of them have symbols that are used in normal writing and so people can, will, and do often accidentally put emotes in their posts. I've seen it happen semi-regularly to other members (usually newbies but also some forum veterans).

I also occasionally have to edit my posts regularly if I forget to disable emotes, which isn't often thought of when trying to write a detailed, genuine, or just plain interesting response.

Two, because if they do accidentally do it they might not notice or they might miss the small window of opportunity they get to edit their posts - if they don't miss the edit opportunity, let's face it...remembering to disable emotes for every post you make is a nuisance at best.

Lastly and this may be a very unpopular opinion, but the emotes aren't very appealing to me. So I'd like to avoid them showing up in posts when I could just use other emotive things such as the old school text emotes (:D, :), ^^, etc.) without having them automatically replaced.

If disabling emotes by default sounds too extreme, editing the emotes codes to where they're still easy to click on from the table in posting but not easy to accidentally include - such as  or :frown: instead of :) or :( might be a cool alternative.

Again, a minor suggestion and probably something unimportant to most in the grand scheme of things.

But just figured I'd suggest it all the same.

Maybe the user control panel > board preference? There's edit posting default thingy there.

No emote options there but thanks for the suggestion all the same.

Edit:

Nevermind I'm blind as hell.
Thank you ~
