I was wondering about how many protective spirits does one need.. Or how many do i need lol.
I have a gargoyle friend looking after me and my home. I love that he is protecting my home but I am usually asking him to join me when I go outside. Is my home then unoprotected?

I also have a husband and two kids that I am constantly worrying over especially when they are out or on a longer trip or if I myself am somewhere far away. I sometimes task the gargoyle to go and look after them instead. But am I and/or the house then unprotected?

I've been thinking about getting the gargoyle a little help (another protective sort of spirit) does that sound smart or should I just think that he can protect us all on all times?

And one more question: what kind of protective spirits should I consider? I remember reading that gargoyles like to work as a group with other gargoyles but that they also work well with other kinds of spirits...

I do have several spirits for several tasks. My children have each their own Courtwind angel to keep them save (and they give them emotional support in a way I cannot). I sometimes task my gryphon or some of my bound fairies to look after other family members. My lynx enjoys to stay by our youngest son's side when he's sleeping and watches over him. One of my fairies prefers to look after our cats. I do have a protection triad, that's looking after all of us. Might sound like a lot of spirits, but they're all part of our family and enjoy to interact with us humans and each other.

If you don't have any safety measures put in place you're home is definitely unprotected when you leave it with your gargoyle or when you're sending him away.
Regarding the overall safety of our home I prefer spells and rituals. Although there are spirits or entities who enjoy guarding a space. We have some unbound fairies living with us, who can be very protective of our home and us. They align with my houserules and are therefore part of our family.

If you need another spirit to keep your family safe is depending on your own situation. I am dealing with a paranoid and lunatic magician probably for the rest of my life, so I need as much protection as I can get. But maybe you don't. Maybe you should discuss that with your gargoyle. He can suggest other spirits he'd like to work with. At least my spirits did, when I asked them who they'd like to have as an addition to their own abilities.

The Creepy Hollows maxim is you can never have too much protection. They also say why have just one - or two - bodyguards when you could have an army of protection? Finally they say if you have more than one type of spirit (or spell) that covers the same kind of thing, you'll have overlapping coverage, as every type of spirit (or spell) has slightly differing strengths and weaknesses. At least 3 types for one thing is said to be a good idea.

Home protection suggestions - Genius Locii; Gwyllion Faeries; Sphinx; Chinese Guardian Lions (aka Foo Dogs,) [see Mystic Morning Treasures store]; Lares.

Family protection outside of the home - for this you'll need spirits that can be tasked to look after an individual. Lares are ideal for this. You'd need one for each family member. I may have read that Volkhs can be tasked this way to but maybe you can check this with CH support.

Specialist spirits for (general) protection for a Keeper - Courtwind Angels are highly recommended (4 is a good number); Volkh too. Fylgia; Tower Watchers; Duojna.

There are a lot more of course. These are just my suggestions and they're mainly what CH has.

I probably should add that I think it makes sense to have spirits that protect the home and family there, as well as spirits that can be tasked to protect individual family members, as well as specialist protection spirits for your own personal protection.

I have a protection team and many angels, who I task daily to protect my family members, who stays home while I am out and about. I also like my own body guards around me all the time.

Specifically for a home protection when everyone is out, I love my Courtwinds, one of my 2 Volkh and my Red Dragon to stay behind.

My and my family personal protection is my Immortal, my Djinn, one of my Volkh, Fylgia, Ki-lin, unicorn, Courtwinds my Bronwyn Angels, my Blackie Dragon, my Glass Dragon get tasked. I found that all of my spirit friends can actually protect in their specific ways.
I also share (Cross bridged) 8 of them with different tasking including protection.

I personally feel very protected by my Courtwind Angels, Bronwyn Angel, my immortal and Djinn.

When I have to go to work, I prefer my Glass dragon and Blackie with me and of course my tried, a Courtwind a Volkh and my Fylgija.

When I am asleep, I do prefer my angels near and close alone with my spirit animal and my unicorn and Ki-lin.

It's true you can't have too much protection. I have a gold dragon who I tasked to look after and protect my mum. He is doing such a great job, helped with recent issues, that I got another gold dragon I can task to watch over my partner. I have 7 Volkh, a wraith, draugr, black dragon, penumbra dragon, courtwind angel, ifrit djinn, Norse vamp, Ash vamp, watcher, black pegasus, hell hounds as personal protection. I also have a AAM protection spelled pendant, so I feel bubble wrapped lol. 99% of my others are protective too, it's a total must especially as there are some out there who are not sure what they have conjured and sent to you, I learned the hard way.

Thank you all for your amazing and helpful answers.
I think I will be getting some more protective spirits but first I have to study and choose what to get. So many options :D
And good tip about asking my gargoyle if he has something to say about the matter.

I don't personally have an Einherjar, but they're quite the force to be reckoned with as they can call upon an army if necessary. I suppose in your case that is more useful if you want to protect your home.
