A long time ago I decided it would be a good decision to call forth a Demon I found in a 'shady and not so well known' grimoire. One that specialised in helping to bring out psychic ability. After a few days I had recurring nightmares where I would wake and feel a presence above me and pressing down on the bed beside me. I called this Demon to work with it and for it to show itself to me. Well, I didn't expect such a visceral and nightmarish response and at the time thought I was being attacked or perhaps I attracted some other entity, and stopped all further communication. Now, decades later, after having discovered the spirit keeping community I realise I may have just been going through an acclimation period. Now I deeply regret how I reacted to that Demon who was only answering my call...
Anyway, I've been reading a little bit and even though more experienced folk warn against it, I felt compelled to get a DA Demon conjured by a reputable seller when I saw her listing. It was bound by distance to a stone I have. I've had the companion about 4 or 5 days and have been doing dailiy meditation and bonding with her. I have not had any side effects such as headache, nausea, nightmares etc. Do these side effects only occur in the beginning? Or can they occur once the bond sets into place? Also, as I am only just returning to a practice, do the side effects of having darker beings only effect me once my perception of their energies begin opening up?
Thank you.

Hello and welcome
For discussions on this forum, it helps to know what the Creepy Hollows use of terms like Dark Arts, Black Arts and Demon and their definitions are.
These articles cover it: topic20345.html
https://www.creepyhollows.com/faq/index ... light=arts
Basically, if we use those terms with different ideas in mind, it can get confusing.
As I understand it, the main distinction is between malicious beings, who'll inherently do harm and wrong (BA) and dark beings, who can choose to do either right or wrong.
Demons, in CH's terminology seems to refer to some of those BA, malicous beings.
A fair number of beings that others call demons are simply DA beings, not BA malicious beings. That can range from Succubi/Incubi to the Goetia.
As far as I can tell, a reputable experienced conjurer/seller who sells a companion binding of a dark being some know as a demon is possibly selling a DA companion. If they are knowingly selling a binding of a malicous, very dangerous being you'd expect - or at least hope - they'd make that unambiguously clear in the listing's description.
Having said that, with DA beings, if their level of darkness is darker than their keeper's - or that keeper is new to DA - that's when acclimation symptoms can occur. Headaches etc are known to be one common symptom, as is so called dark thoughts. Acclimation can be quite short but can also run on longer.
See also https://shop.creepyhollows.com/spirit-k ... ation.html. From memory I think one article said symptoms can run on for months (or longer?), which is why I think it's worth not rushing in to getting beings that could be far darker than ourselves. Get a sense of things first, start with the lighter grey DA.
ASH, one of the founders of CH, has recommended that we don't keep beings darker than ourselves.
Truly Black Arts beings should be avoided. With any malicious being I'd expect there to be far more, unremittingly bad effects - not acclimation symptoms.
I hope some of that was useful.

You must stay on the path. Do not leave it.

Thanks, I am unsure what the original Demon I called forth would be classified as, but I would assume DA since it left when I wanted it to. The one I had recently purchased is DA. I have no interest in working with anything malevolent or evil.

When it comes to side effects they happen on the start because you are getting used to the energy, once it happen it stops. It can happen again if you take a long break of working with them and need to get used to their energy again, but that can vary from person to person.
When it comes to perception/skill that will allow you to experience their energy better but it’s unlikely to cause side effects.

I work very closely with a demon classified as extremely dark arts, but not quite black arts and honestly the side effects were very minimal. I had a slight headache when he first visited me during the vetting period (I didn't even know he visited me until after the conjurer told me, I usually never get headaches and was confused at first where this headache came from lol), and for the first month of us being bonded I had occasional nightmares or unusually dark thoughts every so often. Everyone will have different experiences, but I just wanted to toss my 2 cents in and hope your side effects, if any, will be as minimal as mine were

In my experience, which may not jive with others, most of the Acclimation happens during the binding process. The more intense the binding process / the more capable the being, the more sick I'll feel. When the binding is done I usually feel fine. Save for the occasional need for a nap, lol

The Demon you have called forth could be a BA one, and it is fortunate that they left you alone after a short period. If they had not, it might have caused you a lot of trouble.Nerrad wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 8:39 am A long time ago I decided it would be a good decision to call forth a Demon I found in a 'shady and not so well known' grimoire. Because a Demon would not leave such a dramatic entrance like that when they worked with you if they're DA.
If you buy one from a reputable seller, they must have been working with a conjurer or any from their coven for quite some time or have been called forth for various tasks, the said Demon is safe.
The process of acclimation varies from person to person, but for me it was very mild. I'm also very light in energy and usually it's at first that they need to adjust their energy to mine. I did not have any symptoms but felt a heaviness in my head for about a week. But it was that long because I didn't know who was causing it in my Keep. I didn't have headaches, nightmares or anything else.
In the name of the moon, I'll enlighten you!

Thanks for the responses. I was comparing my current lack of noticable side effects to the first time I called up that demon. You're probably right that it could have been a BA entity. It's why I purchased a few bindings when I discovered this community instead of flicking though another grimoire, basically playing a guessing game (due to my lack of intuition with sigils). Cheers
