When you don't think magic is working, or spirits are doing anything, it is probably already working and they are most likely doing something. Your idea of what it means for magical forces to be working effectively may be very different from how it operates, from what it needs to do. A number of points on this below.

When we activate or employ magic/spirits successfully, the result we are seeking of this can be situated near or far on a path of destiny. It can even be situated on an entirely different path of destiny.

That is why some magic works instantly (the thing we want to see happen was in close enough proximity already), and some feels like it is taking a while.
This goes for wishes made to wish-granting presences as well. They are working with what they have before them. You can be the factor that makes it easier or more difficult to obtain an end-result, by this understanding - whatever you are doing to attract or repulse a certain outcome. Keep in mind neither state is inherently positive/negative, that depends on the focus. You can be repulsive to a bad outcome just as you can be attractive to a perceivably good outcome, just as you can repulse something good for you and attract something bad -- your potential isn't static, you should be working with what you've got.

Magic is not working poorly if an end-result is not instantaneous, or exactly as desired. It is an end-result you are hoping for, it comes at the end of a series of events on a seen AND unseen level that the magic has set off. You cannot see everything that is happening.
Some events so tiny and rapid that it looks like the 'end-result' was immediate, and some otherwise - making it look like it took 'a long time for the magic to work'.. NO, the magic was WORKING immediately, but the END result didn't come immediately.

The magic is working even if there are blockages, usually it's working against the blockages and that's why their removal makes a difference. If their removal doesn't make a quick difference it's not necessarily because you have some nefarious much more difficult to remedy issue, it could be that the magic needs to catch up. THINK SIMPLE before you look at possible complications; supposing these complications early on can mean a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It is not always possible to make things happen on a timeline as you are living it, and fit your exact desired end-result.
Sometimes you want something and you've no idea how incompatible it is for your current path. Incompatibility means a lot more has to shift to bring it in manageably. For that matter, many spirits won't just do whatever you ask - even if it is in their capability to do - if they see problems you don't. You could ask them to do something 'no matter what' but depending on the spirit that might be rather egregious. If something is off then communicate with them about it, and don't throw around tasks you're going to be annoyed about not materializing if you have not yet established a reliable communication method (or several).
You have no idea where a path will lead. One good thing can be part of a path that is besides that awful. A path that is majorly great will have a few bad things on it.

If you want something to manifest more to your specific vision, then, it takes a collaborative effort - doing everything in your own power, training in discernment so that you are operating in harmony with the magic, knowing when to engage or to back off and let it work for you, etc.
In other words - CHANGE - because you are basically shifting timelines, so of course you've got to keep up, and cannot be rigid about your present circumstances or wants. You need to grow to a point where your wants are informed.
Things need to be moved around. If you think it's too much work or you don't like what changes have to be made, you may not truly want or be ready for that particular manifestation.
Magic that can only manifest its end-result on a different timeline is likely going to start provoking changes in your life, some of them can be very uncomfortable. It can be subtle where the change that is urged is your perspective or mentality, in order for the end-result to occur; just seeing something you didn't before may be the key to transporting you elsewhere.

It would be wise to appreciate even these subtle changes and understand how they are linked to magic (or spirit aid).

Different types of magic tackle an issue from different angles. Sometimes one form of magic can angle itself in a way another can't, but this doesn't necessarily mean that one is consistently more powerful than the next -- it means that magic was right for that very specific thing on that very specific timeline.

A number of factors have to fall into place for magic to manifest the end-result.

With some there's the presumption that it will never happen, that the magic must not work at all or the spirits aren't there or hate you or whatever. By making assumptions based only on what you can see (so - your limited perspective which adjusts as you grow, and negating the unseen entirely) you'll certainly begin taking actions that assure magic never works for you.
Or you will significantly prolong the process, and by the time it ends up manifesting - you no longer want or need it. Maybe you'll forget by then what you wanted so much earlier on. Or maybe you'll finally have the perspective to understand why it wasn't manifesting so readily to begin with.

Yeah, love the technicalities behind the experience. I bookmarked it too. I see knowledge gaps in my view even though, I am naturally able to move magic with my interactions. Yet, when I want to work with wishes that comes from my ego… well nope . It’s just won’t give it to me. Not for selfish reasons. That is in sync with your words here @Vipera aspis atra . If it’s not my path or my higher self does not approve or timing is not right … it’s not going to deliver anything at all even if technically supposed to work and it does for someone else without delay. It serves as an excellent reminder for both long-time and new members of the forum, especially those who are new to Spirit Keeping. Lately, I've observed a rising number of individuals with incredibly lofty expectations of magic, wishing for things that are simply not realistic within the given timeline. I truly hope that this thread gets the attention it deserves and reaches the people who are in need of a mindset change, allowing them to alter their perspective.
