It is discussed here:

Not for everyone, of course, but let's be honest...what's the point in having over 8000 spirit companions? I don't know if that's actually true, but I'm sure it is not about developing meaningful relationships with other beings. Imagine, having 8000 human friends here. It is impossible to spend quality time with every one of them. So same goes for spirits.
And this one is discussed here:

It just depends on your point of view on things. If they are just disposable thing like items then maybe, but most ppl just keep them as companion. It's basically like adoption to most ppl.

I personally don't believe that spirit keeping is a slavery. But on the other hand, "what's in it" for the spirits to always guide us and help us?

Hi

Here's one answer, from https://www.cre ... artlang=en

Creepy Hollows encyclopaedia

"You will find that giving an entity a home that doesn't have one makes them grateful and they want to do anything to please because it lets them know they are not forgotten and you have the great privilege of being part of an entity that hasn't existed on the earth's soil for sometimes thousands of years. It is a preservation of their culture, race and beliefs and that makes them immortal and that makes them happy. That is why we go through such pains to bind the spirits of any and all entities we can find to give them a home, make them feel loved and not let those who lived here even before humans become forgotten."

I think there are 2 threads in which a similar query has been raised.

No wonder a few threads exist on this topic. It's a question that kind of pops into everyone's mind, doesn't it?

I'm personally not a spirit keeper, I work with different entities by means of evocation and projection, I use to work with angels, demons, some fae, elven, the first Egyptian vampires (setians and asetians) and the first Sumerian vampires and demons. I normally just work with whatever crosses my path or I cross theirs. I don't bind anything or anyone to rings and such, though I am not against those who bind their egregores and such to their items that's a different ideology to me. Currently, I tend to have spiritual entities around me through open invitation mainly shadow people, two hellhounds, a warg from Norse, and an Inugami from Shinto. It tends to make for interesting presences.
