Great post Ash :applause:

The idea of the sexy, aristocratic, gothic and decadent vampire (which inspired Stoker's Dracula - really catapulting the image into modern times), was introduced through a story titled "The Vampyre" by John Polidori.. published in April of 1819.
The vampire in this story, named Lord Ruthven, was based off of the likeness and personality of the Romantic poet Lord Byron. Whom I happen to have with me now. Quite interesting.

I am grateful you posted this Ash. I couldn't really bring myself to believe all the romanticism surrounding Vampires. And I much prefer knowing the TRUTH about what is in my life, home, etc. I think it is always best to know what is factual and make proper decisions based on that. Thank you. I look forward to reading more!!

wonderful post, and i too, say thank you!
I held off on getting vampires for so long when i first began keeping...and i admit, the lovey dovey vamp posts were what turned me off.
i can;'t even see my spirits right now in this point of my journey anyway...and the last thing on my mind with all, (except for a specific one who i even keep forgetting is here ::facepalm:: ) , is having romance.
I have all my spirits with me for companionship, to learn from, and to just share my life with.
Not that i look down upon those that do have spirits who fulfill that side of things, just I kinda don't even really pay attention to the description of any of my spirits' physical traits, truth be told.

I love this thread. I have a very large spirit family that consists of quite a few vampires. I have been fortunate enough to have never seen or read most Vampire stories, series' or movies. I feel very... well, uncluttered in my mind! Lol. I had been visited by one of my female vampire companions fairly recently and she was very, very far from glamorous. She was very real, very dark, and her voice was...I just don't know how to describe it. It was scary. It was awesome!

I must say also though that one of my male Vampire companions is definitely protective and loving toward me in a dark and raw sort of way; not a warm and cuddly way. Anyway, I really appreciate this thread.

Again, many thanks Ash for a wonderful post on vampires--and a much needed one I might add. Like your posts on Black Arts that you have had in the past, this was both interesting and informative at the same time! Thank goodness you gave another side--the true and correct side, I might add, to counter all the Harlequin Vampire posts we have to wade through here on the forum sometimes. To say this was a breath of fresh air, an oasis of cool water in the desert, much longed for and very much appreciated is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!.......... :skull:
