Another thing that should be noted about the Ajna is that it faces INWARDS - instead of facing forwards like the other chakras, it actually faces backwards.

Great info :thumbup: one thing I've had to realize is that it's a continued process keeping the chakras balanced. I try different techniques like You Tube video's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-lh2SDSd7w
and use different Cd's like 'Chakra Chants' by Jonathan Goldman a great book on energy is The Subtle Body by Cyndi Dale

Thank you for the extra links, AngelFire! The Subtle Body is definitely an excellent book and a brilliant recommendation to add to this thread. 
I haven't tried any of the you-tube videos or CD's for my energy work - although I do use music sometimes when working on my energetic body, it's usually just soothing music made for meditation or trance. I will have to try out your suggestions!

I actually have used those two-word phrases as mantras when focusing on the given chakras. I also saw an interesting list of which elements to associate with each chakra.
Root: Earth
Sacral: Water
Solar Plexus: Fire
Heart: Air
Throat: Sound
Third Eye: Light
Crown: Thought
That makes sense, as it goes from the densest element through to the most ethereal as it moves upward. Also, the Throat chakra governs communication, speaking and hearing, so "sound" fits. The Third Eye governs sight and Sight, so "light" fits. And the Crown chakra governs wisdom and understanding, so "thought" fits.
