Be honest, many keepers began the journey because you did want something the ads claimed, whether it was popularity, love, powers, money, etc. As honorable it is to want a spirit purely for companionship, that wasn't why most of us started. We were curious. We probably wanted some slight advantage, just to see if it could be true. Nothing wrong with being an opportunist!
We all want something in our existence that we haven't been able to get being the person we were. Truth is, we can have everything we want but sometimes our short comings stand in the way. Nothing wrong with having shortcomings either.
But some of us didn't get what we wanted. Some of us were tested even. Why did some get what they want, and some struggle and still get nothing or worse more crap? Once I started studying magic, law of attraction, NLP and meditation. It all became really clear. These people were clear on what they wanted. AND made the effort to offer and show gratitude (ie offerings). Gratitude is simply offering your heart energy to them, whether it be through herbs, candles, or prayer. Now I know every has experienced a half ass prayer versus one deep from your soul where you can feel every cell in you body vibrate. That's what they want, a real prayer. A real energy, emotionally charged request. Now it doesn't matter if it's negative or positive request, though as you read a thousand times, like attracts like. The consequence is clear.
So to maximize your spirit keeping, know what you want. Be willing to do what it takes in the physical world to get what you want. Learn everything that interests you. Be willing to connect with that soul energy within you and offer that in everything you do. Then have enough trust to get rid of any negative pattern/thought within yourself that has been holding you back or believes in the worst of everyone and life circumstances. And simply be open.
Spirit keeping allows you to be connected to spirits you wouldn't normally know about. You are simply taking advantage of someone else's conscious connection to them to push your wishes forward. These individuals/magicians are simply offering you a connection. What you do with it determines your own results for better or worse.
