What should I do?? I have heard that the ritual dagger / athame should be and remain virgin, so I wonder if doing a cleansing spell on it and re consecrating it would be the propper way to go, there's this other part of me that thinks it just became more tunned to me and should not go the cleansing route.

It depends on the magic system you work with.
In hermetic magic it's sometimes a good sign if a blade draws blood.
In Wicca it seems it needs to be destroyed as it's tainted, loses it's power and can't be used for rituals anymore.
Have no real experience with that since I'm a chaote and anything goes.

Your blade is fine...use it to take life (harvest herbs) and direct energy...all you have done is creat a closer bond with your blade...it is now a true extension of yourself

If this is a problem for you, just cleanse the blade and then re- dedicate it to what ever magic system you are working with!!!! I have done this before myself and I just clean the blade and run it through some sage smoke to cleanse it and then get back to work!!! I am a good one for cutting my own self!!! :lol:

I agree, it depends on what type of magick path you are going to use the dagger for. If it's a path that is strict on the virginity of a blade then you may want to obtain a new Athame for work; cleansing it would just be a cheat. If your path doesn't dictate such, then you can clean the blade, use a cleansing spell to cleanse of it the energy from your blood, and go about your business. Or, if you're just generally practicing, and you do not have any set path, then I agree, the blood could be considered an offering, and you will have a stronger bond with the Athame in any magick you use it with to practice.

Thanks for the sound advise and sorry for the late response. I did cleanse it and re-consecrated it only to accidently cut myself with it again LOL, maybe it already has a mind of it's own? I have used it for different sorts of magical stuff, not just for the original intent I got it which was for the banishing of the pentagram so I'll just leave it as it is.
