I have read all of Burroughs and he was a personal friend along with Ginsberg and some others. What you mention is a very small part of the concept.

Then there's the book 'Pontypool Changes Everything' about a virus that spreads through language. Seems that was published just a few years after 'Snow Crash' (I checked out of curiosity).

PS - I took Apro to just be making a reference to a book this conversation reminded him of.. and that his comment might be a derailment of the topic. I definitely don't think there was any malice intended.

There's also a movie about it as well, interesting take on zombie apocalypse.
Not so popular but definitely one of my favorite:)

Language that programs minds reminds me of 1984, and how Big Brother wanted to alter language in order to change how people think. By eliminating unacceptable (to Big Brother) words and concepts from the language, people wouldn't be able to conceive of or communicate about those ideas, thus Big Brother was more able to control their thoughts.

It makes a strong case for enhancing one's own vocabulary as much as possible, and even learning other languages if the opportunity arises, to make one's own mind more agile.

Bringing this back to the OP, we need to remember that for the sane and serious folks who practice godspousery, not the fangirls/fanboys and not the unfortunates who are experiencing delusional thinking, the concept of "spouse" will vary widely. Even with human marriages, variations exist. Some couples are for-life and monogamous. Some cultures allow polygamy. Some couples practice "open" marriage. Et cetera. So we can't have a rigid idea of what the word "spouse" entails for other people, even if we have our own specific set of expectations for what it'll mean in our own marriage.
