I did some searching on the forum, but didn't turn up much current information on the Sin Eater as a kept entity. I couldn't find the usual list of associations in the encyclopedia either.

I'm familiar with the tradition of the sin eater (mostly from the Welsh perspective) as a mortal member of a community, but the idea of a vessel bound energy is a newer concept for me. The few posts I found were older, and I was hoping to get some updated information or experiences.

Hi Maythen,

I was just looking for exactly the same thing!!! I have just bought a mid-level with two additional bindings... I have a few questions too.

Which I may have to put into a separate post to ensure it shows up on the board index... Although it's related to this post so I don't know?...

Sin Eater Questions:
1. What are the 'varying degrees' of sin eaters? As listed on:
http://shop.creepyhollows.com/product.p ... uctid=3599

2. Sin Eaters that specialise in one aspect of sin? (How would you know which you have purchased and/or it's the aspect you require?

3. How may aspects of sin are there and what are they?

4. If the 'One-size-fits-all certainly does not apply to sin-eaters' how do we know which to choose?

5. Can I get a breakdown of exactly how to get the best out of my sin eater? Am I reciting bad luck verbally while running it over myself or as quiet reflection or just go with what feels right?

6. Where do Sin Eaters come from?

7. What exactly do they do?

8. With the mid-level is it the removal of 60 or 90 days as the listing for the low level and high level is more specific?

9. Can I do it for more than 14 days? I feel I may need to be going back years!!!

10. As they are not bridged, will I need to buy additional/more powerful sin eaters separately with separate vessels?

11. Why are Sin Eaters listed as Dark Arts?

12. Has anyone used their sin eaters for a period of time and have a progressive story slash update to add? (please specify pls specify low/mid/high)

I am really sorry about all of the questions but I don't know anything and I would really like an informed opinion to get the best out of my sin eater and to have a basic understanding..

No negative comments please!

While doing a little light meditation and performing the general welcome to the household rituals with my sin eater I got a sudden vivid flash.

I was lying beneath the arch of a gate with a dangling cord secured at the apex. (I recognized the gate but it's only privately relevant) The cord was long and stopped maybe 7-13 inches above me
(waddya want? I got crummy depth perception)
At the end of the cord was the vessel of my sin eater.

I felt a sensation of pain/pressure where my body contacted with the ground, and I realized I was now on a "bed of nails" acupressure mat instead of spongy garden moss. While I was distracted (because it doesn't exactly hurt but it's pretty darn close) someone or something stepped up, pulled back the cord, and set the Sin Eater's vessel swinging like a pendulum above me. I lay still, as though held down, as it swept from my head to my toes and back again.

After a single swing I jolted out of vision and back into the present. I'd also split the inside of my lip enough to taste it.

He has a nice little footed dish of his own now, and chose fluorite, hematite, onyx, and clear quartz along with a surprising amount of glass pebbles. I don't get a social vibe, but I did get the sense he's pleased to have his own space.

When looking for ways to purge past sins from your life, don't forget that there are some faiths out there that have got forgiveness rituals. For example, the Catholic faith has got the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession). Members of said faith can have that sacrament by taking part in that ritual, and completely hit the "reset" button on sin -- that will completely zero out any past sin on the spot. Provided, of course, that they actually are sorry for sinning. For someone whose heart isn't in seeking forgiveness, no amount of rituals can work.

There might be forgiveness rituals in other faiths, too, but I'll leave people with knowledge of other faiths to comment on those. But my point is to let people know that there are definitely ways available to zap past sin and have it GONE. I'm presuming that anyone who's interested in a Sin Eater is a person who wants those past sins gone, removed, and otherwise obliterated from their lives, so I thought I'd add this input.

I can answer this one because it was part of the questions I opened a ticket about in the past. You can do it for as many days as you want, but give him a break of 7-10 days between each 14-day round so that he can rest.

I also asked about how to thank mine, since they're not social, you don't bond with them and there are no associations, and the answer I got was that anything I may want to do or say as a thank you will be appreciated. So you can follow your gut regarding charging boxes, offerings etc cause I assume -since they didn't mention anything like that- that there's no specific thing that it's not a good idea to offer a sin eater.

Think you've seen it all? Think again. Outside those doors, we might see anything. We could find new worlds, terrifying monsters, impossible things. And if you come with me... nothing will ever be the same again!

1. What are the 'varying degrees' of sin eaters? As listed on:
http://shop.creepyhollows.com/product.p ... uctid=3599
The degrees of Sin-Eaters are in their capabilities; what they're capable of doing in terms of eating.
2. Sin Eaters that specialise in one aspect of sin? (How would you know which you have purchased and/or it's the aspect you require?
We don't have those publicly available. The ones we have are all general. There are Sin-Eaters that are specific to a type of sin, but they are difficult to find compared to most others.
3. How may aspects of sin are there and what are they?
That all depends. Frankly, you can think of the 7 deadly sins, though some people/religions classify sin even further. The most common of the rarer Sin-Eaters are for addictions, lust, lying, sexual deviancy, etc.
4. If the 'One-size-fits-all certainly does not apply to sin-eaters' how do we know which to choose?
We choose the best one for you. It's a more involved process than with most other spirits, and that is why we very, very rarely offer pre-bound Sin-Eaters. It's better to choose a Sin-Eater specific to a person every time.

5. Can I get a breakdown of exactly how to get the best out of my sin eater? Am I reciting bad luck verbally while running it over myself or as quiet reflection or just go with what feels right?
If you follow the instructions, you'll be fine. They aren't social by any stretch of the word. If you simply follow what has to be done, you'll receive the very best they have to offer.
6. Where do Sin Eaters come from?
Earthen & Spiritual Realms
7. What exactly do they do?
Cleanse the negative energy, and blockages, that build on you as you commit acts of sin. This differs by person because what one person views as a sin is different than how someone else will classify it. However, in all instances, sin records itself to you the same way.
8. With the mid-level is it the removal of 60 or 90 days as the listing for the low level and high level is more specific?
Yes, each level has more capability when it comes to the length of time removed through one session. Which has to do with the ability of each level/degree of Sin-Eater.
9. Can I do it for more than 14 days? I feel I may need to be going back years!!!
Exactly as arianna posted above.
10. As they are not bridged, will I need to buy additional/more powerful sin eaters separately with separate vessels?
No, not at all. Anything you could possibly have should be able to be rectified by one Sin-Eater.
11. Why are Sin Eaters listed as Dark Arts?
They are neutral, neither for, or against you. However, because of the nature of what they do, their energy is often dark, and certainly has influence on the darker side. They aren't positive & uplifting as White Arts spirits are.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Maythen!

That is really vivid, and as soon as your sin eater arrived too...

I like the idea of the footed dish, it sounds lovely.

Do keep us updated, very intriguing.

Hi,

I am familiar with confession, though I usually pray as I am not a catholic (Pentecostal).

However with regards to past sins there is no doubt I have some as we all do. But I try my best on a daily basis to be the best person I can be kind, helpful, considerate, compassionate, positive etc... So the Sin Eater is more for a period of bad luck that doesn't seem to end....

Thanks for the reply.
