Thank you for bumping this!! I totally would've missed this.
Is there a way to make it a sticky thread? Or add it to the encyclopedia if it isn't already?
I wish the Creature category was broken down some. Personally I don't like the idea of calling humanoid spirits creatures- think centaurs, merfolk, nagas, satyrs, etc. Especially when the second word of the creature mantra reminds me of a howl.
My Siren agrees with me about the howl. She just shouted "YES!" at the top of her lungs. I think she likes the mantra. Have to check with my Mermaids to see how they feel about it.
Why dip your toe in the water when you can do a cannonball?

well, Griffons and other nonhumanoid intelligent sorts are classified creatures too so I don't think it should be too insulting. Not like calling them unintelligent. I'd be classified as a creature under this system if there wasn't a human beings category here.
I managed to summon my (living, flesh and blood) dogs with the creature mantra, lol.

You must stay on the path. Do not leave it.
If you do, you'll never...
find it again.
No matter what may come, stay on...
the path! [Gandalf, in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug]
