First, Archangels are unique and have NO gender. They are not females nor males. This is according to Christiniaty and Islam. They may appear in a form or the other , but they are genderless.
Secondly, I would personally classify them as white arts. They attack the evil only , but that wouldn't be dark if they attack the evil. They're just doing their job by protecting you.
