We have a new puppy! His name is Jotunn.. a big boy, and this isn't even his final form..
He enjoys chasing our cat, laying in bed with us, laying all over us, sleeping for several hours, climbing things, and farting in my face on purpose.
He is a saluki, they are of the most ancient known breeds related to the wolf. Their lineage can be traced back to around 3000 BC in ancient egypt.
But we gave him a nordic name because he is a wolfish giant of doom 2lv

What a gorgeous pup! I think he needs a tummy rub in that second shot, lol. "See? Here's my tum. Start rubbing."
If he's closely related to wolves, look for him to be VERY intelligent. And possibly willing to challenge authority. Fullbred wolves, and wolf hybrids, have a tendency to vie for the alpha position on occasion, if they see an opening. I don't know enough about salukis to know if they entertain such ideas. But if you spot it, you'll be able to let him know, "Nope. Xer and I are still the alpha pair in this pack. No need for you to step up and take charge."
Then again, I have a Chihuahua/Corgi mix, and HE occasionally thinks he's the one in charge. The cats end up bopping him on the head if he gets too ornery.
So it's not just the breeds who are closest kin to wolves who view the world along those lines.
