I had to look this up as we don't seem to have it on TV here. It does sound particularly good, I'll have to order the DVDs to see it.

I watched the first episode with my mom last night, and then I see this thread.
From what I've seen, I love it, it's atmosphere, and especially that it seems to focus on a strong, independent woman, among other things of course. We always need more of those.
Another one that I've fallen behind by a season is Salem. The first season was amazing!

And then there was a thing, but not any thing, it was a thingy thing.

I love Penny Dreadful, and I'm really excited for season three! I'm incredibly interested to see what they do with the Dr. Frankenstein/ Dr. Jeckyll team up.

Yeah! I'm so glad more people are into this, and the gothic genre as a whole of course. I am all caught up on this show.. guess some of you aren't so I won't spoil it. BUT DRACULA !!!! The Dracula plot thickens so nicely.. like congealing blood..
I identify a great deal with Vanessa Ives, it's enthralling to watch her story unfold.
I don't watch a lot of television, only if something really captures my attention and this was one of those programs (apart from American Horror Story, my other favourite) 2hp

I absolutely love Penny Dreadful.
My only issue is that I do not subscribe to Showtime.
I have the first 2 seasons on DVD. I find it to be a very well written and acted series. With all of the junk one sees on network television (and even on most cable channels), it is highly refreshing to find a show that delves into the "Gothic horror" of the time.
I did get to view the first episode of this season, since Showtime put it online as a freebie. I'm on pins and needles... just waiting to see the rest. It promises to be an awesome season... again!

I am ME.... and that is that!

By the way Noctifera, have you read Monster & Madman by any chance?

I somehow never got around to watching it, but I've been meaning to as it sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'd enjoy watching! So thanks for reminding me
Think you've seen it all? Think again. Outside those doors, we might see anything. We could find new worlds, terrifying monsters, impossible things. And if you come with me... nothing will ever be the same again!

Hadn't heard of this either, but as someone who loves the gothic literature of the 18th/19th Century, will definitely check this out.
