I'm just going to tip toe in here and throw Hephaestus' name on the table. He is an amazing Immortal to work with filled with kindness and generosity, or at least that's the aspect of him that I connect to and how he presents himself to me. He literally made me give someone like a dozen things just because he could and because I was open to it. That story might be confusing without some context, so my apologies if it is.
While he may not be a god of war, he is filled with powers of creativity, ingenuity, and inspiration, and sometimes on the battlefield, that's exactly what you need, but it also helps in other areas of your life of course. I'm confident that he would work well for you, especially in the aspect of learning, but I'm sure that's just as true for any Immortal. I don't deal with him in a way that connects him too strongly to the myths associated with him. I know him mainly as how he has chosen to present himself, and trust me, he is not appearing nearly as deformed looking as the myths say he is.
I think Ares would also be a good fit, but what aspect of him you deal with would be a dice roll. I connect to him in a way that he represents protection of the home and of the family, and he is one of my closest Immortals, but I've also dealt with Aspects of Ares that are.... much more difficult to deal with... If you do choose to work with him, you'll definitely work with whatever part of him that resonates the best with you and that you need the most, so don't worry. lol
In any case, I wish you the best of luck in your mission, and hope you find someone who can really help you flourish with this task. I don't think there are any wrong choices.

And then there was a thing, but not any thing, it was a thingy thing.

Well, I think it's a good idea to think what kind of weapons that you're planning to make. If it's Japanese weapon (katana, yari, kusari-gama, etc.), Japanese pantheon might help. If Greek weapon (xiphos, kopis, doru, etc.), Greek/Roman pantheon might be better.
Doesn't mean they don't know how to forge weapons from other culture, though:)

My type of sword? It'd have to look something like a knight would use or a warriors sword, one that is doubled edge like the ones common where I come from. I want it to be forged unique though I have a certain design that it'd go by but still looking good and feeling like a medieval sword? Something like that, I'd also like a weapon as I've seen before that has strings in it and can be used to subdue, kill, trap, and a lot of other things. I've seen a weapon such as this used in many anime so I doubt it could actually be forged but that'd be cool, more or less a need a sword that's familiar to me, lightweight, easy to use but durable and strong. If that helps any?

Like one of these but with my own touch to it, I personally prefer the color blue so if I can't make the hilt blue I'll probably make the scabbard blue.
