Super interesting article pondering why one should not say "thank you" to the fair folk.

I have to be honest, I don't remember where I learned this one. I have wracked my brain but I can't remember where I may have read it or who might have told me about it originally. As far back as I can remember it has just been a rule I lived by: you speak politely and you never say thank you. When I initially tried to track down where I'd heard it and came up empty I started to wonder if I'd made it up, however further research did provide some validation.

Why is this a taboo? It is hard to say as folklore offers no clear explanation, but we can offer a few suggestions.

Thats an interesting take. Maybe it only applies to certain fae, or it could be one of those myths of old (like laying steel scissors out to keep out malicious fae... however those tales go).

Or it could possibly be classic fae etiquette. I think if it was a dire mistake to make it would be mentioned in the CH encyclopedia. It would be interesting if it was one of those human things that they just put up with lol

I sort of noticed this as well - if I said thank you, the reaction from the spirit world is not too good, especially from djinns. I have to learn to stop doing this in the spiritual world, and only do it in the human world.

Of course, I could be so wrong.

Thank you for sharing.. But tbh that'd be odd for me somehow to say those things without adding 'thank you'

Like I mostly say: it all really depends on the individual. I never had problems, when I was thankful for this what my spirits do for me. I even had the feelings they were happy about my gratitude.(I would feel insulted, if a spirit would be mad at me, when I'm thankful for something. "Thank you" isn't something I say very often.)
But on the other side, I don't (want to) live/work with fae, djinns or immortals. So maybe they're really "special" that way, haha.

It was for Brownies. If they clean up your mess, don't say thank you.

In ho'oponopono you have to say "I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, and I love you." You are saying it to the universe which might compose of your ancestors and God, and any other being you might have offended. But honestly after I said it my contract ended and so did everyone I worked with..so maybe someone didn't like that...lol.

I did though end up with work that doesn't require me to come to the office, and I learned that working for others is the slowest way to wealth. Some other realities finally opened up for me.
