Online sigils

Postby conxtion » Sun Feb 11, 2018 5:08 am

Are sigils considered spells?

Are the sigils in this website any good?
http://sigilscribe.me/
If yes, then I will start using them. 1mg

Thank you.

Mmm if by spell you mean "a set of words, spoken or unspoken, which are considered by its user to invoke some magical effect", considering sigil is not spoken or written, then it is not a spell : ) (unless you derive spoken words to chant from the sigilization, that is)

I remember that website recommended in one of articles about sigil. But it's limited to 3x3 matrix, and not enough theory of how it is done. Still you should try it : )
And one more that has more variation:

Or this one as well (DIY):
https://www.wisdomsdoor.com/wb/hwb-sigil.php
It might be more personal if you do this yourself by hand, as it'd take creativity from you : D

Thank you, Dook. Very good references, as usual. wisdomdoor is even quoted in wikipedia.

Sorry, everyone, this thread is in the wrong section, as sigils are not spells.

Meh, I don't like these at all. I think that to have an effective sigil you have to design and draw it yourself. I tend to do sigils a little differently than others, though, to me it is important that they are aesthetically pleasing.

They are definitely stronger if you make them yourself in my experience. Golden Dawn's circle cross is an easy one to start with. https://www.wisdomsdoor.com/wb/hwb-sigil.php

There are many methods of designing them. Take your time, choose colours that correspond to the entity you are wanting a sigil for. Think about the entity when you are making it, infuse and charge it with your understanding of the entity. They can be strong enough to promote spontanious invocation once you have worked with the entity with the sigil. Ask the spirits to bless and charge it with their energy. Consecrate it in the relevant element etc. Lots of ways to supercharge a sigil!

To me, sigils can be many things. As someone who has been working with them for several years, I can tell you sigils are an embodiment and can be considered a spell by way of embodying an intention. However seeing as a sigil isn't always being formed to do such, it depends entirely on what that sigil is. A sigil can represent anything from a calling card to channel a deity or being, to an activation of an energy construct or intention, to a summarized imprint of a spell or ritual or particular energy.

There are methodologies simple and complex alike by which to form a sigil, as well. I wouldn't just go by some random sigils I found someone else had created online if that's what you linked to (with exception to ancient seals and symbologies which hold their universal weight). Not unless you truly resonate and have decent discernment of what it holds for you.

They can be, you can sigilize spells too.

Look into hypersigils, you'd be suprised what could count as sigils :P
